"What is the cause of volcanic matter?" Mr. Bell asks.
Same old science class, same old life, I think. Science, my least favorite class. Why is my life like this? I wonder.
"ASHLYN!" my teacher shouts sharply.
"What did I tell you yesterday!? NO DAYDREAMING!"
I sigh. Always like this. I have a very vivid imagination and I'm always getting caught daydreaming in lessons. As my teacher goes on about volcanic matter, I start daydreaming again. Usually my daydreams aren't that vivid. Just random things like my ideal boyfriend and stuff. But this daydream is more vivid than ever.
There is fire everywhere. The sky is raining fire, and the ground is shaking. I am running. But from what? The ground is shaking so much that it is threatening to collapse underneath me. Only now do I realize that I'm in the sky.
There is a huge castlelike building in the distance. The sky is black. Thunder is booming everywhere. It is hard to tell where it's coming from. Instead I just stand there, a sense of urgency in the air. Just then the sky begins to collapse beneath my feat. I'm falling and falling. And then I feel the hands of evil gripping me. The scene changes.
I'm now in this place full of fire and smoke. The ground is made of dried magma and the buildings are made out of lava. There is destruction everywhere that the eye can see. I sense an evil power lurking in the smoke. Just then, someone, or maybe it is a something, begins to whisper about a star that will save the world, how I'm the hero who will do it all. I have no idea what it is talking about.
"Ashlyn! Ashlyn can you hear me?"
"Huh?" I say groggily.
I sit up wearily, and find that I'm in the nurse's office. There is a curtain drawn in front of me, and I'm laying on a hospital bed.
"Hospital?" I mumble.
"No, no no, that would be terrible," I hear a voice say. I look around and find nurse Baily standing by my bed.
"It's only the nurse's office!" says a more cheery voice.
"Mr. Bell?" I ask.
Mr. Bell smiles at me. His wrinkles seem to smooth out a little when he sees me awake.
"Ah, you've woken up!" he says.
"What happened?" I ask curiously.
"Well, you see," he starts.
"You looked like you were having a bad dream, but your eyes were wide open. You were screaming something about a star, and um, uh, let's see, something about a hero as well." He looks visibly shaken.
"But I'm glad you're awake now." He smiles again.
"I think it's best that you go home. You should rest after what happened. You'll have to be as alert as possible for tomorrow's test," Mr. Bell says confidently.
Great, the test. Yep, I remember now. I have a science test tomorrow and I am very sure that I will fail it. If I haven't told you already, I will probably be expelled. I have ADD, as well as a learning disability. Unfortunately, my school doesn't care. They only take the best people.
My mom had said that if I get expelled, er, when I get expelled she'd transfer me to a private school. That's fine with me as long as they don't care that I have ADD.

"Oh Ashlyn, poor Ashlyn," my mom is saying, as she sees me wheel myself up to my bedroom.
Yeah, my mom and dad are not very nice. My mom is always home, but my dad goes to work early and comes home late. I hardly ever see him except for weekends. I also don't have any siblings. I get bullied in school for that sometimes but I don't really care.
After wheeling myself up to my bedroom, I get into my pajamas and kick my wheelchair against the door. I don't need that thing anyway. I flop into bed and sink into a world of fitful dreams.
I hope you guys liked the first chapter.
Well, the prologue at least.
The first real chapter is coming soon.
