November brought two things.
The cold,
And misfortune.
But you could group the two together, so maybe all November brought was bad luck.
Sugawara was constantly tired. He would sleep through the majority of the day, causing him to be generally well rested when dark came around. He was turning nocturnal, she would joke.
She layed at the foot of his hospital bed, curled up. She gave him her full attention, which was slowly dwindling the later it got.
He made small talk, and the girl would answer with a few words or more often some form of a grunt.
"I've always wanted to visit a big city. I bet it's really different from here. Probably really noisy and busy." He continued.
"When I go you should come with me."
His arm reached out slowly, poking the top of her head.
"Mhm." She hummed, not really aware of what he was saying anymore. "I will."
"Good."
His small poke turned into a lingering touch.
"Or maybe we should go to a really pretty beach instead, since they're my favorite. And we can have ice cream and I'll try whatever flavor you want me to."
She nodded choppily, it came out as more of a twitch.
"One day." She murmured, voice heavy with tiredness.
He ran his fingertips lightly down the length of her arm, the touch sending shivers along her spine. He somehow managed to get a response from her body, no matter how tired she was.
He continued talking, his voice becoming a sense of comfort to her. The more she heard it the more relaxed she became. His words seemingly lured her into sleep.
Her responses slowly came to a stop as she couldn't fight her exhaustion any longer. Now she was just listening to him, letting his voice mix into the blow of the AC and the beeping of the machines.
"One day."
Were the last words she heard before her consciousness faded.
