Visiting him had become a routine. As much as she tried to stop it. Old habits die hard. What was she supposed to do when she reached for her shoes on instinct, only to realize she had no reason to leave her house anymore?

It was raining outside. The droplets combined with the dead leaves and mud on the ground, forming a murky mix. The sky was a dark gray, not a sliver of blue in sight. It was peaceful.

The rain had gotten lighter, and as she left her home, it was merely sprinkling. She didn't bother putting her hood up, letting the raindrops run down her hair.

It was late in the evening, and after a few texts, Sugawara knew the girl was coming.

Her feet followed the familiar path to his room, nodding at the nurses she always passed.

Opening the door quietly, she watched the boy layed flat on his bed. He noticed her, shifting his body towards her and grinned. The girl smiled.

He looked like Sugawara.

The boy yawned, eye bags hung under his pretty hazel eyes.

"Sleepy?" She asked, coming to stand next to him. Sugawara nodded and watched her.

"Just a little."

"Can I play with your hair?"

Her question caught both of them off guard, she hadn't meant to be so direct about it. She blushed slightly, it was a childish thing to want to do.

Sugawara scrunched up his nose before laughing lightly. "Sure." He moved aside in the hospital bed slightly, showing her it was okay for her to get in.

Slipping off her shoes, she hesitantly climbed onto his bed behind him, her back against the flat pillow. The bed was tiny, only fit for one. She put her legs on either side of Sugawara, stretching an arm out around him and laying him flat, so his back was pressed against her chest and he was essentially laid in her lap.

She ran her fingers through the strands on his scalp, knotting her hands in the messy waves.

Neither of them moved, except for the girl's fingers as they weaved through his hair.

She could feel his chest rise and fall with his breathing, and she watched as it grew uneven depending on where she touched on his head. She wondered if he was nervous.

The thought only made her nervous, too, in return. She worked to keep her breathing even and her heart beating steadily, as she was sure he could feel it from where he layed.

They stayed pressed against each other for a while, the rain picking up it's speed as time went on. Soon it was pouring, the pitter patter of rain sounded around them and they could hear the droplets ram into the window near his bed.

Sugawara's eyes grew heavy the more relaxed he got. He was trying not to fall asleep which was being proved significantly hard, with how warm the girl was and the soothing way she touched his scalp, and the relaxing pattern of the rain drops.

The girl watched his body fall into a state of peace, the weight on top of her suddenly growing as he became unconscious.

She pressed her hands to the side of his face, cupping it as she leaned in and closely observed his features. One of her fingers poked the dot under his left eye, and she smiled against his face.

"Pretty boy." She whispered. The girl leaned back, resting her chin on the top of his head. The soft gray strands tickled her neck. She wrapped her hands around his waist, pressing him even more into her body. He was still so warm, compared to the hospital room and the temperature outside.

Taking a deep breath, she let herself relax, falling asleep shortly after him.
