Chapter 1-15: A Dog and Pony Show

A/N: I'm skipping Stare Master and The Show Stoppers because they're both CMC episodes.

All of us were having a picnic when Spike runs toward us. That's weird. Shouldn't he be with Rarity gathering gems and jewels for that famous singer Sapphire Shores' gem-studded dress order?

He pants as he cries out, "Rarity... woods... jewels... dogs... hole... taken... save her!"

He has to take a few minutes to catch his breath, because that was just gibberish. Like an even harder version of charades.

Twilight asks once her scaly assistant isn't wheezing anymore, "Spike, can you breathe now?"

Spike says, "Yes... I think so."

Twilight says, "Good. Now tell us what you know."

Rainbow says, "Yeah, 'cause all you said earlier was..."

I add, "Unintelligible."

Applejack adds, "Not a whole lot to go on there, sport."

Spike says, "Sorry. Rarity and I were in the woods looking for jewels when these creepy guys showed up."

I ask, "Creepy guys?"

Spike adds, "They called themselves the Diamond Dogs."

Ugh, those guys. I remember their pack at school. They'd steal valuables from others, but they'd wait hand and foot for Rarity. Why would they take her? And more importantly, where?

I ask, "Where did they take her?"

Spike responds, "They grabbed Rarity and disappeared down a hole in the ground."

Applejack says, "Well, this sounds mighty easy. Just take us to that there hole and we'll save Rarity."

He leads us to the spot where he last saw Rarity, and we all gasp at the dozens, if not hundreds, of holes.

Pinkie exclaims, "Holy moly, that's a lotta holeys."

Twilight says, "Come on, girls! Let's get started." She shoves her head into one of the holes, calling out, "Hello?"

We hear a growl before the hole is filled in. We all jump towards more holes, all of them getting filled in before we can reach them. Geez, these Diamond Dogs are fast.

Pinkie spits out a mouthful of dirt, and Twilight exclaims, "Quick! We've gotta get down one before they're all filled up!"

Fluttershy mutters, "Oh! Oh, my. Oh, oh!"

Applejack adds, "We can't muscle through it!"

Rainbow says, "We'll see about that."

She flies high in the air and dives down toward an open hole, but gasps and barely stops herself when the hole is filled in.

Applejack sighs, saying, "Whew. Heavens to Betsy. Now, I'm used to pickin' myself up and dustin' myself off, but Rarity won't even touch mud 'less it's imported.

Twilight's face drops, muttering, "Oh, Rarity..."

I imagine her being locked up in a small cage with a rusted door, and she's constantly trying to escape from the cave's dirt.

I say, "We've got to save her!"

Fluttershy says, "But they blocked up all the holes."

Applejack says, "Don't mean we can't dig 'em out. Come on!"

We all try to dig through the covered up holes, but we're shoved out by large dogs, taller than any pony I've ever seen, and Rainbow exclaims, "Get 'em!"
