Gracie POV
The evening of the ball had arrived.
-Taylor moved a part of my hair behind my ear. - You look great.
She hugged me and kissed my cheek.
-'Turn around.
I nodded and turned around so she could see me. I wore a designer black dress with bows at the waist. Taylor had gone out of her way to get me everything.
-Gracie you're awesome! That's my girl. -Tay put the biggest smile on her face and stroked my arm.-Remember, everything is going to be okay. Enjoy the moments with the love of your life.
-He is n...
-Yea, whatever keeps you asleep at night. Don't lie to me.
-Taylor...
I was interrupted by the doorbell. Taylor headed for the door, excited. She opened it and I heard a familiar voice.
-' For the hostess.'Albert joked and handed one of the bouquets to Taylor.
-'Al, you look gorgeous.
Albert was wearing a black suit with a maroon tie and a stylish cut. His dirty blond hair was parted perfectly. He walked over, smiled, and handed me the other bouquet.
-"For you. You look stunning.
I lower my head, take the bouquet, and leave it on the table.
-' Are you ready?' he asks.
-'More than ready.
I take Albert's hand and we head for the exit.
- Wait. - Taylor calls out. She has her phone in her hand - Let's take some pictures.
Albert laughs and turns around, and I do the same. Tay takes a few pictures and then takes a selfie with us. She wishes us luck and we walk out the door.
-------------------------------------------------------------
The ballroom was adorned with sparkling chandeliers, elegant drapery, and a sea of well-dressed attendees. Albert and I entered together, looking every bit the perfect couple.
As we made our way through the crowd, we received warm greetings and curious glances. The recent scandal had everyone talking, and all eyes were on us.
-Are you ready for this? - Albert whispered, his hand gently squeezing mine.
I nodded, my eyes reflecting a mixture of nerves and determination.
-As ready as I'll ever be.
The orchestra began to play a waltz, and Albert led me to the dance floor. We moved gracefully; our chemistry was undeniable. For a moment, it felt like we were the only two people in the room.
-I can't believe we're here - I murmured, my head resting on Albert's shoulder.
-Me neither, - he replied, his voice soft. - but I'm glad we are.
Just as we were lost in the moment, a familiar figure appeared at the end of the dance floor. Chris Thomas, looking impeccably dressed but with an aura of tension about him, made his way towards us.
-'Oh, who's been here.' he grins. - 'If that isn't the happiest you've ever been.
Albert drops my hand and turns to him.
-'Oh, if it isn't the smallest man who ever lived? -Albert looks at him and moves closer.
-Being friends with Taylor Swift is not good, it brainwashes you. - Chris smiles.-I'm not here to talk to you, Albert.
He moves closer to me.
-'This is your last chance. Either you come back or...
-Don't you think it's all over after that hit? - I begin.
-'Chris, this isn't the place to...' Albert started to start, but Chris grabbed my arm and shoved me.
Albert couldn't stand it and reacted to the moment by standing between the two of us and pushing Chris. He falls to the ground and starts laughing.
-Look who's on the floor now. You didn't say anything did you? You hide from her, you hide from the whole world. How will you look in her eyes?
-'Albert, what is he talking about?' whisper I.
He pays me no attention. His eyes bore into Chris, his fist clenching. Chris rose from the ground.
-' It would be a good idea to tell her everything. Or don't, she'll find out soon enough.
Albert's hands clenched into fists, his body trembling with restrained anger.
-Don't do this, Chris.
Chris leaned in closer, his voice a sinister whisper.
-Or what, Albert? What are you going to do about it?
The tension between them was electric, and I could see Albert struggling to keep his composure. I stepped between them, placing a hand on Albert's chest.
-Albert, don't let him get to you. - I said softly. -He's just trying to provoke you.
Chris's smirk widened.
-Listen to your girlfriend, Albert. Wouldn't want to make a scene, would we?
Albert took a deep breath and turned his head to me.
-Yeah, she is right. I am so happy to have a girlfriend like Gracie. – he looked at Chris. – we should go.
I nodded and he led me to the way out.
