Albert POV
Five years have passed, but nothing has changed. I was still in the resturant. I was happy with Sophie, we spent a lot of time together over the years. We were officially together, she would come to my shows and I would come to her shows. She had released new albums and was doing more than great. Gracie was doing it too. I was still following her career and her relationship with Charlie. She never looked happy in the pictures. I knew her even after five years.
-"Are you ready?" asked Sophie as she took my hand.
-'Yes.'
We walked the VMA red carpet together. That year she was nominated for Artist of the year and Song of the year. We sat down at the tables in front of the stage. We sat with big names like Dua Lipa and Maisie Peters. Conversations started at each table. Other people's albums and songs were discussed. Then I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned instinctively.
-Al. - Taylor smiled, and I stood up and hugged her. She never stopped contact with me. Now she was one of the rewarding ones. She would be presenting the awards in the two categories Sophie had been nominated in. - How are you? - She looked slightly at Sophie who had got up from her chair and was smiling at me.
-'Excited. – she said.
-luck. - Taylor wished everyone at the table and went back to hers. My gaze followed hers and settled on a familiar face. Gracie. She was sitting in the chair looking at me. She wore a light pink dress with elements of ribbons. It was the theme to her new album. Her face had changed, her hair was straightened. Her gaze made me see only her in the room. Charlie called her over and she turned her head towards him. He was now her producer not just her boyfriend.
The event began, the opening was lavish. It was the turn of the awards.
'Song of the Year' was the first chart. Sophie appeared on the screen first. The video of her song ,,Model Runway" was spinning on the screen. I participated in the song as an actor. I was in a song that was written for me. Two more songs and videos went by and it was Gracie's turn to do "Sad boy". It was the first time I saw the video of the song. She was sitting on the beach we were talking on after I got back from London. She was lying in the sand.
"You are an idiot now I am sure I am positive I should go and warn you oohhh. Bet you think she is so cool..."
The performance was over. Taylor came on stage. Her black dress dragged on the ground, in her hand she held the envelope with the winner's name.
Taylor stood at the microphone.
I was secretly hoping Gracie would win the award. I knew both songs were for me, both were great, but she deserved it more.
-'Song of the year goes to...' Taylor opened the envelope. Her gaze changes. - Sophie Green. - She squeals with a forced smile.
Sophie gets up from the table, and everyone congratulates her, I do the same, but she kisses me instead of hugging me. Before I knew it, she was clinging to me. I pulled away from the kiss and motioned for her to go on stage. Sophie got on stage, Taylor hugged her and handed her the award with a forced smile.
Sophie took the microphone and began.
-Thank you to my entire team. My fans are what keep me going. I want to thank you and tell you about the tour that is coming up. - Cheers and applause could be heard in the room. - Of course, I want to thank Albert for his support over the years and his participation. I couldn't have a better man by my side. - Sophie looked directly at Gracie, not at me. She was still jealous. Sophie left the stage and went to get her interview.
Time passed and she came back.
-"What was that?" she asked.
-' What?'
-'Why was he looking at her and not at me? Stop interfering with her it's over.
Sophie looked at me and frowned. More prize charts went by until we got to the final part.
Taylor was on the scene again. The songs were repeated again.
-Artist of the Year is... Gracie Abrams!- Taylor screams, Gracie gets up from the table and goes straight to the stage overflowing with happiness. The two embrace the same way they did the first time I saw Gracie. She had the same look as before, but this time she wasn't a stranger. This time we had a story.
I couldn't have been prouder of her. I couldn't be happier with what she was winning.
Unbeknownst to me, I had risen from my chair. I stood holding my breath, the only one right out of all the stars and guests. I could feel the eyes fixed on me, imagining all the headlines after tonight. It wasn't important to me, not now.
-I couldn't believe it. - Gracie laughs. - This really means a lot to me. I only got here because of ,,school project" and of course my inspiration and best friend, Taylor Swift. Thank you to Audrey, my team, Taylor and my producer. - Applause is heard. Gracie turns, but walks back. - I want to thank the person who made me who I am now, my muse. - Gracie looks at me and nods.
She left the stage.
What? She was talking about me and confirmed it with her last words , "my muse". Her look made me want to catch up with her. I want to run after her and bring her back. Why was she doing that? Five years had passed since then, but she still hadn't experienced anything.
Taylor had gotten off the stage and pulled me away from my table.
-'Albert, this is your last chance. Stop playing games, five years have passed and you both still think about each other. If you deny it, I'll remind you of your surprise when I called Gracie's name and that it didn't work out for Sophie. I have a show tomorrow, be there. She'll also be there as a surprise guest. After the performance, find her. - Taylor shoots up and pats my shoulder then. - You know what you both did tonight.
She walks away and leaves the room with Gracie and Charlie.
After the event, I returnto the apartment with Sophie. We didn't say anything. I congratulated her onher success and immediately headed for the bedroom
