Haruno Sarada stopped for a moment to take in the brilliant blue sky speckled with puffy white clouds, and small beams of sunlight piercing through.
A cool, refreshing breeze ruffled her short, raven-colored hair as she surveyed her surroundings. She adjusted her glasses and ran her hands through her locks before making her way inside Konohagakure Public High School. With a small smile, she walked into the building, feeling hopeful that it was going to be a good day.
Her hands reached into her pocket, retrieving a small box of strawberry milk that her mother give her this morning. She enters her classroom, and notices there's no other student inside. She put her bag down, gulping on her strawberry milk. After finishing what's inside and throwing the empty packaging in the trash can, the slender girl walks towards the window. Her obsidian eyes noticed the slightly crooked flower vase, filled with flowers. With her delicate fingers, she fixed the vase's position so it wouldn't fall down easily. Then went back to the window to observe the view. It's a beautiful summer day.
"As expected of the class representative! You're the first one to arrive again, Sarada." A chubby girl with long, brown hair greeted her with a smile from across the room.
Sarada chuckled softly, "Chouchou. Good morning."
Akimichi Chochou is her best friend. Sarada knew her since they were kids and they've been friends ever since then.
A pair of girls entered the classroom and greeted them. It doesn't take a long time for the class to be filled up with other students. She continued tidying up the space diligently, and once finished, she walked towards her desk.
"It's your boyfriend, Sarada."
She turns her head, and in one sweeping glance she finds two blue orbs, as deep as the ocean, stare back at her from across the room.
"He is absolutely not, and never would be." Sarada replied to Chouchou, with a deadpan stare, as the brown haired girl giggles and sits down beside her.
"He is coming, the bento of love as usual." her friend says, winking. And Sarada can't help but roll her eyes.
Footsteps approached the two of them and stopped in front of their desk. Uzumaki Boruto is a tall boy with blonde, unruly hair. He's from another class, but nobody's making a fuss about it since they used to visit their class every morning for three years straight. With his usual laid-back attitude, he handed her a bento box, wrapped in lilac cloth with a flower embroidery. Sarada took them and gave him a little nod.
"Say thanks to Hinata-obachan from me." The raven haired girl said, as he wave his hand and left without saying much. Sarada's hand stilled around her bento box and stared at his retreating figure. She could see him smiling and waving at someone in passing.
"Ooh, I'm so jealous". Chouchou elbowed her with a grin.
"You got a boyfriend~ and a bento of love~", she continued, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively, as Sarada rolled her eyes again and pushed her face farther."How many times have I told you that we are just childhood friends?? We're not even that close anymore, we barely talk these days." Sarada shrugged and put the bento box inside her bag.
Chouchou pouted and crossed her arms, but let it slide after a moment. Sarada was right after all, they've been growing apart since their middle school days. And she had no reason to believe that anything between them will change now anyway. Especially when it hasn't for a while now.
Boruto's parents and her mom are longtime friends. Because her mom is busy with work, Boruto's mom often takes her in. They're practically raised together. Boruto is the son of the village chief, Uzumaki Naruto, the man who built the village. Not to mention her mom is from an affluent family of politicians, the Hyuuga. He comes from a wealthy and elite family.
