It's an ordinary school day, and Sarada has just left Shino-sensei's office to hand him the documents needed for her scholarship application. Her homeroom teacher told her that her grades are absolutely top of the class. Sarada has always known that she's smart, everyone knows that, but the teachers always compliment her for that. She was able to pass the class easily because of how intelligent she is. Seems like everything is going according to plan. She's eager to give it all to the final exam at the end of the semester, and to finally finish her high school studies.
As she walked across the school with her textbooks, papers, binders and notes in hand, Cho Cho joined her on the sidewalk, waiting for her. She stopped walking to allow Cho Cho to catch up with her.
"Look who's in a good mood now." Cho Cho greeted her.
"Do I look really happy right now?" She rolled her eyes and let out a small chuckle.
Cho Cho patted Sarada's shoulder, "Don't worry. Everything will work out great." Sarada gave her a grateful smile as they started walking again together.
When she opened her locker, she immediately noticed something strange. Something that wasn't hers, and she wasn't sure how it goes inside. She reached for the white envelope, which was sealed tightly.
"What is that, Sarada?" Cho Cho asked curiously as she peeked inside her locker.
"Dunno." Sarada shrugs and opens the letter carefully as she doesn't want to damage the envelope.
"Is that a love letter?" Cho Cho added with a giggle.
"It seems like it." She said softly, as she began reading the letter, but her friends took it swiftly from her hand.
"Dear Haruno Sarada, I am writing to you because I have liked you for a very long time. I hope we can be friends, or maybe more than that.... Oh my! This is a real love letter!" Cho Cho read aloud the first part, while staring at Sarada's face as if waiting for her reaction.
Sarada 's face instantly went red and she immediately slammed her locker shut, "This must be a kind of sick joke." She denied as she quickly try to shove the letter back into her locker from the hole but failed miserably. Cho Cho took the letter back.
"What happened? Sarada got a love letter?
"Let me see, let me see!"
A flock of girls heard their conversation, and now surrounded Sarada, who is now trapped in their arms trying to avoid touching any contact with them."Wow, you got a secret admirer. And with an old-fashioned way, too. I'm so jealous!" Cho Cho exclaimed as she dramatically placed the letter over her heart, "Who do you think wrote this to you?"
"It's just a prank, a prank!" The girl in glasses cried out frantically.
"What's with this commotion? You guys are in the way. What a drag." A boy with deep emerald eyes and spiky hair who looked like pineapple spoke, his words were laced with sarcasm as he approached them, followed by his two friends.
"Shikadai, come here, Sarada got a love letter!" Cho Cho shouted excitedly.
"...Love letter?"
Sarada knows this voice very well. In fact it belongs to the person who has been occupying most of her thoughts for the past few days.
Boruto moves forward and their eyes meet. The group around Sarada suddenly quieted down and stared at them curiously. He looks at the envelope on Cho Cho's hand and then at Sarada again, and then back at the envelope.
His gaze lingers on it, before turning back to her.
The whole exchange happens in only three seconds, and it was enough for Sarada to panic. She grabs hold of the letter and shoves it into her bag as quickly as humanly possible, ignoring the pain that shoots through her hands as she did so.
