Ross POV
I sat in a chair in the waiting room...for about 40 seconds until I got restless and started pacing. Then I was pulled in to a hug from behind. It was Rydel. Soon my brothers and Ellington joined. Riker, the always responsible one, turned to me and asked "what's happening? Is she okay?"
"I don't know. And I couldn't answer any of the questions about her for their records."
"What about her phone? Could you get any information from it? Asked Riker.
"I didn't even think of that!.. But her phone is in her pocket with her." I sadly finished.
"It will be okay bro." Said rocky, "we will just have I wait here.
"It's awful knowing that's the only thing I can do. I want to help." I knew they were only trying to comfort me but still. We spent the next day in the waiting room. Well, I did. My siblings came in and out frequently throughout the day. Finally at 9:30 pm a nurse came out and called "jacqueline" I knew it was the girl and quickly leapt to my feet. This was the happiest I had felt in a long time.
I walked toward the nurse who asked "is she your sister?"
Wow this is embarrassing. "No, I- look can I just see her please?"
I followed the nurse down a long hallway and turned into one of the rooms. There was the girl-jacqueline- smiling at me. Her face had a few stitches and some bruising. She was only wearing a sports bra and I could clearly see where her stomach had been operated on. She suddenly seemed to realize that she didn't have a shirt on and abruptly pulled up the sheets- immediately after doing so she grimaced in pain. I rushed and sat down on the side of her bed. "It's okay. Don't worry about it."
She replied quietly, "you didn't have to wait all this time. I'm sure you have-"
I cut her off. "Don't worry about it. I'm here because I want to be here." "Thank you." She said. "I'm jacqueline by the way."
"I know." I whispered. I stroked her hair. "Where are you from? Are your parents coming to get you? What about your friends?" I began to pour out all the questions that had been flooding my mind for the past 24 hours. "Ross,"she said to calm me down and shut me up, then she continued, "my parents are in New Jersey and they probably won't be able to come get me. Well actually my dad is in New Jersey...my mom travels for work and we never really know where she is. My friends had to go home because they had already bought their train tickets home. I told them I would be fine."
"Okay...well I just wanna say all of this I my fault. I will pay for all the medical treatment and whatever else you need. I'm so sorry those guys did this to you. I'm disappointed that my fans would do this...they aren't true fans! Ugh I wanna kill those guys for causing you pain! I-"
"Ross! Would you stop that? I'm gonna be fine. You have more important things to worry about, you're being stupid." I was a little hurt, but only for a second. I looked up from fiddling with his hands and said "fine. But at least let us bring you home. Our next show is in New Jersey anyway. It's no problem at all. Really." She shrugged and said "if it's okay with your family. That's be great." She looked me right in the eye for the first time during the conversation whispered "thank you." I reached into hug her but felt her grimace in pain. I backed off slowly and kissed the top of her forehead. "Get some sleep." I whispered. "When you wake up, I'll have it all figured out." I turned around to sit down but stopped in my tracks at the sound of her voice. "Ross, I'm scared." I turned around and looked at her, waiting for her to continue. "They might be in my dreams. I don't usually get like this I promise. It's just-" "hey." I said gently, wiping the tear rolling down her cheek. "It's okay. Close your eyes, I'll sing to you." I grabbed her hand and asked "What's your favorite song?" She opened her eyes and said in a voice that was vulnerable on account of her holding back tears, "Dear Prudence by-" "the Beatles. I love that song" She looked for a moment in disbelief but then closed her eyes. I sang to her quietly and felt her hand relax into mine as she fell asleep.
