The whole room couldn't believe its eyes. I felt a sudden surge of pressure in my chest as my heart knotted up. I almost had to blink ten times to ensure I wasn't hallucinating, and that this was, indeed, Danny, hobbling on crutches, pushing his way through the crowds and climbing up onto the stage right in front of me. He used his crutches to leverage himself up.

"Am I dreaming?!" I gasped softly, as tears threatened to penetrate my eyes.

This didn't make sense... he was on death's door a few moments ago... and now he was here? Everyone in the room, including the Elite Four, were equally as baffled.

"IT'S A MIRACLE!" Seraphina cried out loud.

Danny just rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Pfft. You Slowpokes really think an ice beam from some dragon would be enough to finish me off? You don't give me enough credit."

"But... how?" Crystal stuttered, still in shock herself.

Danny shook his head. "Never mind that. Let's just get on with the coronation!"

He then proceeded to turn around and use his crutches to carefully lower himself from the stage. He took a seat in the VIP area alongside Lisa.
Crystal cleared her throat before continuing, the crowns once again set on the velvet cushion being clutched by Louis and Seraphina.

"By the Sacred Power of Arceus vested in I, Chairwoman of Taldourse, I pronounce you, Y/N L/N, Champion."

I cast my eyes into the VIP seating area. Danny and Mackenzie were both sat clapping, Austen was stood up dancing as he juggled with three Pokeballs, Veronica and Robin were pumping their fists into the air, Maddie was twirling two Klefkis around her finger, Blade was releasing Green confetti out of his streamer, Chen was blowing bubbles out of a machine towards the stage. Two Dewgong were jumping up and down, trying to pop the bubbles with their tails. However, Buzz and Jordan had made their way up to the stage, and were standing behind Crystal and Clyde for some unknown reason. Lisa was sat almost still, tears streaming down her face as she sent me a gaze that read, "I'm so proud of you".

It was now official. I was the Champion of Taldourse, the strongest trainer in the region, and everyone's greatest hero.

Crystal returned to her mic once the cheering had begun to level off. "If you'll all excuse me, haha," she laughed, unable to reign in her joy and enthusiasm at this point. "We do have some additional announcements to make before we're able to begin our celebration,"

"PARTY! PARTY!" Clyde interrupted, causing the Chairwoman to roll her eyes at his crazy antics. The crowd joined in with their laughter.

"Some of the greatest news in Taldourse history is coming your way!" Crystal continued. "We have now official confirmation that Team Moon is no longer a threat to Taldourse! They are well and truly a piece of history!"

"YAAAAAYYYY!!!" Everyone stood up from their seats and jumped for joy, myself included. I placed a hand upon my head as I jumped so my precious amethyst crown wouldn't fall off of my head.

"Our next announcement comes from our Electric Gym Leader, Buzz!"

She stepped aside, and Buzz took his microphone.

BZZZ!!!

"YAH! Cursed potential difference on these things!" He laughed as he got a mini electric shock from the mic. Two Rotoms buzzed from alongside him. "Yeah, anyway, about what Crystal just said, I don't want to be a gym leader anymore."

The whole crowd gasped, although somehow I saw this coming. There were many "ohs" and "whys" coming from the audience.

The bald man cleared his throat. "You see, I've really gotten into true crime and solving mysteries in my old age. Don't get me wrong, I love Pokemon training, especially electric types, but I can't be a gym leader forever. So I've decided to step down and become a full-time private investigator!"
