Time: After the show in Granary

The way back took place late in the evening. Outside, marks of a light rain were visible, which had recently touched selected parts of Westopolis. The clouds had thinned and revealed whole moons and stars. Shadow and Lumi were accompanied by the noise of the streets and a voice from the radio that announced a band's song, which listeners would soon hear.

"You did good," in the mirror, he glanced at the reflection of his half-dressed partner struggling to change her clothes.

"I have a bad feeling about that magician of yours. Does he also have shows at the Granary?"

"No, he doesn't... as far as I know."

"Precisely. So what was he doin' there and lurking?"

Inwardly, she thanked Shadow for having dark side windows, which gave her a sense of privacy... Almost, if the man wasn't looking at her so eagerly. Perhaps was doing it discreetly, but it still didn't escape the girl's notice.

"Who knows... But it gives me something to think about."

"I tell ya that my thinking about it is that he uses his magic tricks to steal people's wallets. Today I saw two too many in his bag."

"You say?"

Surprised by this news, he turned back for a second. At the same time, the car shook. Shadow swerved to the left when he almost hit a curb, and Lumi squealed, falling back onto the seats.

"Watch out where you're driving!"

"I'm watchin', alright?" he snapped, then sighed more calmly. "You know, by the second turn you really had it," changed the subject.

"But I didn't do the lift."

"You did real good," forced himself not to look at the rear mirror, although he'd like to watch Lumi's contortions a little longer.

When finally finished with the hard work, which is changing, she moved to the front, squeezing between the seats. Whipped her unstyled hair, which she had been hiding under a wig imitating Blaze's purple hair during the show. The only thing left on her face was a concealing foundation, eyeliner that extended the corners of her eyes and a red spot on her forehead, and her eyelids were painted with a matte, light purple shadow.

Blaze had done a really good job of making Lumi look like herself. There was a good chance that people had fell for Ms. Sol's clone.

They were driving in silence, glancing at each other every now and then. Eventually, they gave themselves sincere smiles that stayed on their lips. The pleasant obmutescence was broken by the sound of an incoming call in the man's phone. He took the mobile out of his pants pocket and put it to his ear.

"Wassup?" dread flashed across his face like lightning after hearing the message. "Alright, I'm– I'm coming," put the phone down by the lever and pressed the gas pedal harder.

"What's going on?" she asked as the sudden speed pushed her into the seat.

She didn't get any response back, which only increased her tension. Soon, she came to the conclusion that it had to do with Blaze. Her heart rate quickened in fear of what happened to her.

The dancer made a sudden, contrary to regulations, U-turn, getting into the opposite lane what made him receive aggressive honks from other drivers. He used the bypass to avoid pushing through the Old Town, and before they knew it, he was on the street where Blaze and Silver were living. There, on the sidewalk, he stopped his car in front of the right apartment building. As if on cue, the terrified boy ran out of the stairwell.
