Part One for Mousy03
If you have read my book 'Promise Me' you might recognize this scene.
"Delilah, I know you're up there!" I heard Billy yell from outside. He was the last person I needed to see. I just wanted to be alone in my sister's apartment. We lived in New York, so we had a big apartment. Big apartment means big windows. Big windows means access for Billy to climb into the window into my room at any given time.
"Go away!" I shouted at him through my open window, my voice cracking. I slammed the window down, closing it and continued to watch Netflix on my laptop. I would've been crying, but crying wasn't going to help my problem. I never liked to cry anyway. I could hear footsteps near the window and I knew that Billy wasn't going to give up. I honestly never understood how Billy was brave enough to climb up a ten floor building and not get scared! We were only fourteen! I heard the window unlatch. Billy walked closer to the bed and he sat down next to me.
"Delilah." His breath tickled my face,
"I thought I told you to go away!" I said through clenched teeth
"Delilah," He repeated, but louder this time, towering over me, "What's wrong?" He wrapped me in his arms, but I refused to wrap my arms around him.
"Billy, just leave it." I said, sighing exasperated.
"No! I'm not going to 'just leave it'! I'm not leaving until you tell me what's wrong!" The fact that he was yelling only made me feel worse. It reminded too much of what happened. He didn't show any sympathy. He let go of me, his arms now crossed over his chest. He stood from the bed and walked towards the window, where he waited, tapping his foot on the ground.
"Fine!" I yelled at him, getting up from my bed and walking towards him, "You wanna know?" I questioned. He still had a determined look on his face, even though he got me to crack, "My parents are get a freaking divorce. That's not even the worst part. My dad is moving away and taking Selena with him!!" Selena was my older sister. She was the one who owned the apartment we were screaming in. I screamed at Billy and once I finished, his expression changed, "I hope you're happy that you made me remind myself about my cuts." I finished in a deadly tone and walked away. I flashed the scars on the back of my legs to where Billy could see. I ran down the stairs and walked straight out the door, grabbing my purse that had cash. As I approached the curb, I heard the honks of taxis on the busy streets of New York. I hailed a cab and quickly got in ignoring Billy's calls.
"Where to ma'am?" The cab driver asked me. I breathlessly responded,
"Brooklyn."
And we drove off, leaving Billy standing at the curb.
