CHAPTER VI

FLASH FORWARD

Mikaela Lim POV

*Gweneth's 1st Birthday*

"Mikaela" I heard my mom call me, she was with my husband's 'mother, they were having a great time drinking wine. I sighed and walked towards them as I put a fake smile.

"Mikaela Lim...femininity looks so good on you iha" tita Jao said, she raised her eyebrows, I know she's mocking me, I'm too drained to deal with it. "Where's our apo mikaela?" My mom asks with a big smile on her face, she continued "..she's the main star of the event!"
"She's with Daniel mom, pinapaliguan lang sya, they're gonna be here once the party starts" I answered.

They started exchanging gossip about bankruptcy of other people so that was my signal to leave. I gave them a subtle bow that i doubt they even noticed, I turned around and walked away but still heard their conversation.

"Is Mr Jao, your husband coming later mare?" My mom asked
"Of course! Everyone in our family! This is a big day kaya!"
My mom lowered her voice but I could still hear her, "eh si...aiah? Maybalak ba yun magpakita samin, and tagal na syang di nagpapakita, I'm sure naka move on na silang lahat"

My heart started beating faster, I haven't seen the woman I begged to stay and fight for since.....I don't want to reminisce the last time we talked. Forget her Mikha! May pamilya ka na! Ugh! I need a glass of wine

"Aiah is not allowed to decline this event mare! She lives with me now, since her tita, yung kapatid ni husband namatay 4 months ago sa car crash, kami nalang family nyang natitira, so whether she likes it or not, she's coming, I don't want na lumaki si gweneth na may problems in this family! So why not fix it today" tita Jao exclaimed

Wait what?! Tita Ruffa passed away!?? Why didn't Aiah tell me! Tita Ruffa was the only one I trusted with Aiah in her whole fucked up family and now I find out she's gone?!! For 4 months now!!? How is she?-....she could've called me....
She could've texted,

....I would have ran to wherever she was and take care of her like I always had..."had..." mabye It's selfish of me, but deep down I would have just used Tita Ruffa's death as an excuse to go to her...and get to hug her again...comfort her when she's crying again...reassured her when she was stressed again...because

....I miss her...so much.

Everyone was eating, stuffing themselves with expensive delicacies as they chatted amongst themselves, gweneth was getting fed by Daniel's mother, baby gweneth was sat on her grandmother's lap.

"Have you thought of having a second one iha..." a guest asked Mikha but mikha was lost in her own thoughts, "iha? Mikha...? "
"Mikha.." Daniel whispered at his wife and gave her a soft nudge from under the table. Mikha snapped back from reality and cleared her throat, she gave the guest her full attention, "sorry, ano po yun?"

"Nakakatulog ka ba ng maayos iha...ganyan talaga pag bagong ina, ang tanong ko..." the guest continued but mikha's eyes widened when she saw a familiar face enter the room, she was the most beautiful she'd ever been Mikha thought, her head was down but she still exchanged greetings with the people she was passing by, she reached our table, everyone on the table shifted there attention to the ever so beautiful, Aiah Jao Arceta

"Finally! Look who managed to show up" Daniel's mother exclaimed, "sorry I'm late tita, natraffic po ako.." Aiah said as she looked around the table to greet everyone, except Mikha, who she paused and exchanged eye contact for a while..."...tanong ko kanina, if you would try for a second baby iha" the guest continued her conversation with mikha making her nervous, Aiah's heart stung when she heard that, it was as someone shot her heart with a gun, Mikha's answer made it worse, "...well, if papalarin po tita," that finally broke Aiah's heart.
