Stochasticity - Randomness or Unpredictable.

DEVON'S POV

We walked into the mansion ahead, the music overtaking every other noise. I didn't know where to go so I ended up following Jake, with Lexy and Junior following from behind me.

We somehow got to the kitchen and Jake was already mixing up some crazy concoctions.

Devon : Hey, Alchemist, pour me up something good.

Jake : Can't you do it yourself?

Devon : Oh c'mon, what's with the rudeness.

Jake : Maybe I don't like such... flamboyant people.

I stepped closer to him, almost behind him and talking into his ear.

Devon : You're gonna dislike me for being a man-slag when you're the sluttiest person in the room? Yes, Jake Wheeler, don't think I haven't heard the rumours about you.

His face blushed a bright pink, mainly his cheeks.

Jake : What rumours?

Devon : Just the rumours about you fucking every boy you can find.

Jake : Fuck you! At least I wasn't in a relationship!

Devon : Uh, pretty sure half the guy you were sleeping with had girlfriends.

Jake : Just fuck off!

He tried pushing past me.

Devon : Not so fun when you get called out for your hypocrisy, so maybe turn back around and make me a nice fucking drink.

He shoved me back, brushing past.

Jake : I said do it yourself.

He rushed out of the room and Lexy and Junior finally came out of their little bubble to ask me what happened.

Lexy : What did you do?

Devon : I don't think I like him. No offence June.

Junior : It's okay, nobody does.

Lexy : Guys! Can you guys not? What has he done?

Devon : He's a hypocrite.

Junior : He's... weird.

Lexy : How?

Junior : You know how I mean.

Lexy shoved past him, muttering a retort under her breath.

Lexy : homophobic asshole.

Junior : Babe?.. Babe?!

She just stormed out of the kitchen after him without a second thought.

I looked over to him, grabbing the Vodka bottle that had been put on display.

Devon : You going after her?

Junior : Gonna need a drink first.

I smirked and handed him a red solo cup, filling up the next one for me.

Junior : My cousin, ya' know, he acts tough but he's the biggest softie you'll ever meet. All it takes is for him to like you the tiniest bit for him to not crash-out when you say something "bad".

Devon : What are you saying?

Junior : That I haven't seen Jake just walk away like that in a long time.

Devon : So what are you saying? I struck a nerve?

Junior : I don't know, but whatever you said is something he's scared of himself.

I nodded.

Junior downed the rest of his drink and I reciprocated, re-filling my drink as he left, presumably to go find Lexy.

Despite me knowing probably every single person at this party, I don't like a single one of them. They all think they're so cool and they're stuck up their own ass. They don't know what life does to them, what it's doing to them, what it's going to do to them.

Jake finally came back into the kitchen, not looking at me but not like his eyes were avoiding anything.

He cane up right next to me and made himself another one of his magical drinks. The way he poured all of the different liquids in was like it was some potion that had to be made to perfection.

Devon : Junior and Lexy find each other?

Jake : Yeah, I left as soon as I heard Lexy raise her voice and start shouting my name. Something about you and Junior being homophobic-.

Devon : WOAH! I never once mentioned your orientation.

Jake : Well you clearly said something, plus you're friends with my cousin. He's like gay enemy number 1.

Devon : So just because I'm friends with Junior that automatically means I hate... y'know.

He still hadn't looked at me once, just continued tinkering with his drink.

Jake : You can say "gay". You some kind of snowflake?

Devon : No. I just don't exactly see what you being gay has anything to do with Junior.

He stopped pouring and looked over at me with a look of confusion and suspicion.

Jake : Why are you being nice to me?

Devon : I'm not but I'm also not gonna go out of my way to be rude. We're having a genuine conversation... you do know what that is don't you?

Jake : fuck off. Besides, why do you care if Junior hates me?

Devon : Because his reasons aren't exactly valid.

Jake : If you really thought that, you'd tell him that. Lexy just tells him to 'act nice' and shouts at him when he doesn't. I mean, I don't even think she likes me, I think she likes the fact that I'm gay because it makes me an accessory.

Devon : Really? You should hear how highly she speaks of you. She thinks that you're one of the bravest and most intelligent people she's ever met, coming from her.

Jake : Oh.

He had this look of shock and guilt written all over his face.

Devon : So who are your friends then?

Jake : Who are yours?

He finally finished pouring his drink and grabbed it from the table.

Jake : Hey!

Jake tried to snatch it back.

Devon : Well you didn't wanna make one for me.

Jake : Yeah because they're MY idea. They're like my whole brand!

I put the cup up to my lips and tried it. It tasted...

Devon : amazing..

Jake : Yeah I know, it's orgasmic and it gets you so fucked.

Devon : Okay, well thanks-

I turned around to leave and he stopped me.

Jake : Drink, bitch.

Devon : C'mon, this is mine now.

He scoffed and grabbed the cup out of my hand.

Devon : Heyyy! I wanted that.

Jake : Well it's mine.

I rolled my eyes and turned around to leave, walking through this house. I realised that I'm no where near drunk so I double-back into the kitchen where I found Jake on the counter, with his tongue down some blonde guy.

How did that happen in the 2 minutes I left for?

I cleared my throat to make my presence known. I recognised the guy to be on one of the rivalling schools football team, "Leni" I think.

Jake pushed the guy off him slightly and looked over to me with a smirk.
