"I don't think there's anything left to discuss," Kevin said firmly. Austin smirked and glanced at Rachel. "I see you've moved on quickly. That's unexpected." "Of course I did," Rachel retorted. "I'm not going to waste my life thinking about a cheater like you. And where's your GIRL BESTFRIEND? Did she leave you too?" She scoffed.

Austin's expression darkened as he looked from Rachel to Kevin. "I think it's time for you to go, man. You're wasting our time," Kevin said coolly. Austin glared at him for a moment before storming off. Rachel sighed looking down. Kevin gently patted her head. "Don't let him ruin your mood", he said. Rachel gave him a soft smile.

**after few hours at home**

Rachel sat on the rooftop, staring at the stars. "Why is life like this?" she murmured. "Like what?" came a voice from behind. Rachel turned and saw Kevin approaching. He sat down beside her. Rachel sighed and said "Never fair." Kevin chuckled. "If you think life is unfair just because that guy cheated on you, you're wrong. Do you know why everything became clear to you that day? Because God didn't want you to waste your time and love on the wrong person. If you spend the rest of your life being depressed because of that wrong person and then say life is unfair, well, I have nothing to say."

Rachel sighed again. "I'm not depressed, especially after I found a friend like you." Kevin smiled, thinking, "At least she considers me a friend." He then said, "I know, but that incident is still stopping you from trusting people, isn't it?" "Yeah, but that's not in my control," Rachel replied. "I'm scared. Scared that someone will break my trust again." Kevin looked at her gently. "It is in your control. You can't decide how long you'll live, but you can decide how you live. You can't control what someone will do to you, but you can control how you react and whether you stay heartbroken or give another person a chance to mend those broken pieces. Got it?" Rachel looked at him and nodded with a faint smile.
"Well, in that case, let's go downstairs and have our dinner. I'm hungry Sweetheart," Kevin said with a teasing smile as he stood up.

Kevin was about to go but then Rachel said, "Thank you once again." Kevin turned back and smiled. "No need to thank me", he said. "Uh, can I ask something?", Rachel asked. "Yeah, what is it?", said Kevin. "Why are you always trying to make me happy?", Rachel asked. Kevin's smile faded. He looked down and sighed. "The first reason is that we are friends. And the second reason is, I just like to see everyone happy around me. And the third reason is-", Kevin stopped. "What is the third reason?", asked Rachel. Kevin continued, "Sweetheart, even if you don't consider me as your husband, it's my duty to make you happy. I have promised your parents to keep you happy. And I hope you know that-", "That?", Rachel asked. "That I love you", Kevin said it in a low voice, but it was loud enough to reach her ear. She didn't reply. She didn't know what to say.
Kevin was waiting for a reply, but when he didn't get one, he changed the topic. "Now, do you want me to starve to death? Let's go downstairs." Rachel nodded and they went down.

I know it's one sided, but I'll wait for you to fall for me too.
