Niki was doubtful, remaining silent after Sunghoon's statement.
He didn't believe for a single second that this could be possible. Seeing the merman's serious face, the sailor giggled nervously.
"How do you plan to do this ?"
"I just have to give you some air." A little hesitant pause was placed by the ashen before he deigned to finish his sentence, "By mouth."
Niki raised her eyebrows, staring at the mermaid.
"A pathetic excuse to kiss me, huh ?" sneered the pirate, teasing the sea creature. "You don't need to ask me, you know," Niki said, leaning towards Sunghoon, exaggerating his lips, feigning a kiss.
"I'm serious."
Sunghoon placed his hand flat on Niki's lips, preventing him from going any farther.
The salt water that beaded on the merman's slender hand reached the pirate's mouth.
He pulled back abruptly, spitting out the salt water that had accidentally seeped into his mouth.
Sunghoon restrained himself from laughing, he rested his head on his forearms, always looking with as much attention at the man in front of him.
He imagined him underwater. He imagined Niki with a mermaid tail.
That would be so much easier.
And maybe things would have been different.
Niki looked back at his merman, smiling a little embarrassed at having made such a scene over water in her mouth.
He settled down near the ashen, in their position which now seemed usual. Their orbs kissing continuously.
"I will be delighted to accompany you," Niki guffawed.
"Are you sure ?" Sunghoon asked, suddenly worried.
He didn't want to force the human to do anything.
The underwater world was impressive, even for someone who had lived there forever. So he could easily imagine the fear this could represent for a creature of the earth.
"I trust you."
And it was true. Niki had blind trust in Sunghoon.
He was obviously scared of what could happen. A world so unknown, so vast and so terrifying that the ocean could not fail to make him anxious.
And then, the human was so weak there, he knew he was putting his life in danger.
It was also strangely paradoxical : humans inevitably needed water to live. According to certain rumors that the young pirate had heard, the human body was even largely composed of it.
Yet, despite all this, the human remained nothing more than a prisoner of the earth. The power of the oceans overwhelmed the traces of men.
It was the supreme power.
The fear of men and the pride of sailors.
But all these worries were nothing if Sunghoon was by his side.
Facing the purple river that was the ashen's eyes, Niki's thoughts disappeared.
The fear liquefied, leaving his body.
As long as Sunghoon was there, he would not give up on anything.
He would be ready to follow those lavender orbs all the way if he had to.
