Rex swiftly briefed us on what he planned to do. He told us he had his chip taken out on a Venator class shuttle, and that he knew where one was. A junkyard on a planet that had long been ravaged by the war.
"I don't like this plan," Wrecker was messaging the side of his head, "he wants to cut open my head."
"All of our heads actually," Tech responded, taking a tool from Omega.
"Not mine," Omega responded brightly, "I don't have an inhibitor chip."
"Well that's not fair!" Wrecker pointed to her.
"And obviously, not mine," I sneered, "I'm not a clone."
Echo gave me an annoyed frown, "thanks for stating the obvious Y/n."
I snickered, and sat down next to Tech.
"I thought you said our chips were defective," Echo shook his head and grumbled.
"A theory this device will be able to prove," Tech responded, adjusting something on the device.
"How's that chip scanner coming Tech?" Hunter asked.
Tech stood up, starting saying some advanced sciencey words, and trailed off as he walked away. Hunter looked at him like he had three heads.
"He means, it's almost finished," Omega and I said at the same time.
"So two people can speak Techese," I smirked to Omega, who returned it with a smile, "Techese?"
"You know," I shrugged, "understand Tech's science words."
"Oh right," Omega scratched the back of her head.
"Great, now there's three of them," Echo rolled his eyes and walked into the cockpit.
Omega and I looked at each other, and started laughing quietly.
"We're almost there everyone," Rex called back, "get ready."
I stood up and walked to the copilot seat. I was hesitant at first, but eventually, I sat down.
"Hey soldier," Rex greeted me as I sat down.
I was not expecting him to talk to me, so I merely nodded to him as I sat down.
"How's your new squad?" Rex asked, trying to drum up some conversation.
"It's going," I responded, "it's certainly not the 501st, but I feel right at home here."
Rex nodded, "that's good."
This was so awkward, "what about things for you? I heard about Ahsoka and Anakin... I'm sorry."
"It's alright," Rex responded absentmindedly, "Commander Tano is safe as far as I know; hopefully, we'll meet again someday."
"I think you will," I smiled, starting to warm up to the conversation again.
There was a bit of awkward silence for a little, before I sighed.
I turned to Rex, and sat back in my chair, "Rex... I'm sorry."
He looked down and sighed, "y/n..."
"I thought you hated me..." I responded, "the way things ended up and everything."
"I never hated you Y/n," Rex responded, "but why didn't you tell anyone?"
"I was forced from my home, tormented by a guy who made sure that I hated myself, and then thrust to the republic in a semi-stable state." I rambled, "I don't think I've told anyone, and I mean everyone the full story..."
