"If that is what you wish," Tech responded, taking the small chip from me, "then I will oblige."

"We all will," Hunter reassured me, "but are you ready?"

I did not respond until Tech inserted the chip into my phone in a special way.

"As ready as I will ever be," I responded, "do it."

Tech pushed some buttons in my phone, and the message started playing.

"Ah, if it isn't my favorite @$$h0|£-..." Vial's voice began to talk, but it was shortly cut off by myself.

"W-wait!" I was laughing hysterically, "w-why does his voice sound like that? Bwahahaha!"

Omega and Wrecker were laughing with me, but I knew Tech, Echo, and Hunter were exchanging worried glances.

"Are we going to continue or...?" Echo asked me.

I was still laughing, "yeah! Yeah! Play the d@mn message!"

Tech continued to play it.

"Y/n. I want to tell you something that I probably should have told you. Listen, it is you who are the problem in this situation. You know all the times when you said it was always all your fault? Well, it is. You are the reason I can find you and your team. You naturally give off a magical aura; a fail safe, and a really good one at that. The Eagle you defeated was proof that I can find you anywhere in the galaxy. I also know who you're with. You are with a group of rogue clones, running from the empire. You frequent a planet that I assume you take jobs from, so I know exactly what you're doing at all times. You b!t€#! You really thought you could just disappear; it doesn't even matter if y out use magic! I've upgraded myself! I've upgraded everything. You are receiving this message as a warning; you have two options: one, come back here and allow the clones the life they deserve, or two, run away with your friends, and risk hurting them more. The choice is yours. I will see you soon y/n." Vial gave some maniacal laughter before tuning out.
His voice was ringing in my head. It was higher pitched, and constantly cracked in voice. It was kind of scratchy, and it sounded like your typical mad-scientist voice.

"Well that's just b|00dy brilliant isn't it?" I said when the message ended, "I always knew there was something wrong with me, and here it is, plain and simple. I sow the dooms of my compatriots by simply being here. I bring death and sorrow upon them by simply existing."

Everyone was silent; everyone was thinking deeply about what had just happened. A fury burned inside me that I had not felt in a long time. Anger welled up in my chest and choked my words. Tears and sadness constraining my tones, and resolve flooded through the deepest parts of my adrenaline.

"At least we know this: it has always been me, and it always will be. It is my fault that every lycanthrope that has come, came. Even if I didn't use magic, my whole presence is a danger to this squad!" I roared, "I HAVE to go."

"No, y/n," Hunter began, but I cut him off, "is this really the life you want? Really? Risk it all so I can just ruin it again?! Is this the life you want for Omega?! Hmm?! I didn't think so... listen, I want to stay, but my life is not worth any of yours. All of your lives or worth ten of mine. I should go."

I could tell everyone was about to argue, "and nobody can change that factor! Nobody will tell me otherwise, because no matter what you say, it won't be true."

I was about to walk out of the room, when Tech moved to intercept. He forcefully grabbed my arm, and held me here. I could easily break from his grip, but I was not expecting him to react at all.

"Y/n, listen to me right now," Tech said firmly with narrowed eyes, "I know you're angry, and that you're right. Who wouldn't be in this situation? But, even if all of that is or isn't true, the clear purpose of the words is to make you act on emotion; by exploiting your greatest weakness. You don't value your own life you value everyone else's. You would rather make the sacrifice for someone else to live, and you've never had high self esteem. This is the exact message someone would send if they want to get under your skin. You can't let him." He let go of my arm, "Then, if you do, you'll be letting him win. Nobody here is going to force you to stay, but know this, should you choose to stay, we would support you every step of the way."

Nobody moved, nobody breathed; complete silence. Then, I broke down into tears. I fell to my knees with a sob, and Tech caught me easily. Omega came up and hugged me without hesitation, Wrecker came next, followed by both Hunter and Echo.

"We're here for you kid, we're your family," Hunter offered, rubbing my back.

"You guys are the best," I sniffled, and rubbed my eyes a little, "but are you sure?"

"We made our choice," Echo said, "of course we mean it."

"Thanks guys," I gave a small smile, "so we're all ready to kick some @$$?"

"Yep, back to normal," Omega smiled, making everyone laugh.

"We should go back to Cid's parlor; who gives a $h!t what Vial is gonna do? We'll face him head on, just like I have in the past, no biggy," I said confidently, standing up, "because, I have all of you, I think I can face him now. Let him try and get me, he won't get too far."

I caught smiled, affirming nods, and smirks as I spoke. Clearly, everyone was in line behind my confidence and statement.

As we neared the area in which Cid was located, I started thinking about how much Tech had gotten out of his comfort zone to say such a thing. I have never heard him talk like that before, and I was wondering what made him.
I decided to go and ask him without another doubt.

I walked up to the empty copilot seat and sat down; I looked at Tech, but he seemed relatively focused, and barely knew I was there.

"Tech?" I tried, making a bit of corner-of-the-eye contact, "can I ask you something?"

He did not respond, but seemed to be listening.

I gave a short intake of breath, "why did you say what you did?"

"Why?" He looked at me with a frown, "did you not enjoy it?"

"No! I loved that... but it just seems..." I responded quickly, trying to figure out how to put what I wanted to ask him in words.

"Is seemed logical that somebody would say that, because of how obvious the conditions were," Tech explained, pressing various buttons, "It was the answer that seemed to go along with all the information and was the most logical."

There was a hint of something in his voice that I did not recognize, "really?"

He gave me a nod, but remained very focused.

I was trying to figure out how to take that. Should I take it as not meant at all? That he was disregarding it because he only meant it that way. Or should I take it as his little way of giving inspiration? That it was how he defended his answer by stating in logic.
I knew which one I believed, but I never can be too careful.
