Moments of silence...

In the hush of the clearing, silence draped over everyone like a heavy blanket. Y/n blinked, trying to comprehend... Did Todo really just switch places? She turned her head, and to her surprise, there he was again, as if he didn't just disappeared nanosecond ago.

"Hey!" The colossal Todo loomed behind Noritoshi, his fist slamming down beside Noritoshi's feet with a thud that made the raven-haired boy stumble back. "I told you, I'll kill you if you get in my way!"

"Wrong," Noritoshi shot back, his voice dripping with annoyance, though his demeanor remained cool. "You said you'd kill us if we told you what to do."

"Same difference! Just back off!" Todo growled, flicking a glance toward Itadori, a cheeky grin curling his lips.

Meanwhile, y/n lightly tapped her mask twice. "You'll be late for your idol's gig, Todo." she remarked, and Todo spun around in a dramatic flourish.

"Pfft... Anyway! I'm recording it for now— this moment for posterity now that my brother is here." Todo declared, pointing at Itadori. Y/n and Noritoshi exchanged bemused glances.

"Huh? Since when did you had a brother?"

"It's not about me, is it?" Itadori scratched his head, confusion painting his features. Todo immediately pouted like a puppy denied its favorite treat.

"Okay, Y/n! Let me tell you about what Itadori said earlier about you—" Todo said, his smirk devilish. Itadori, sensing the impending doom, jumped in and immediately shoved Todo away.

"Hehe it's nothing!"

"Huh?" This time, Y/n's bewilderment was practically tangible, even if her mask hid her expression.

"Anyway..." Mechamaru interjected, his tone oddly casual, "Looks like we're retreating."

"Tch. So lame," Mai chimed in, springing off her perch like a cat annoyed by a bird's song.

Y/n pushed herself off the tree trunk, deciding to follow her classmates.

"Just make sure to take him down." Noritoshi said one last time, his seriousness cutting through the light banter.

"That'll depend on him. Don't order me around," Todo shot back, a playful sparkle in his eyes as he turned to y/n. "And Y/n-chan, let's catch up later with Itadori. Gotta deal with him first as brothers."

Y/n walked in silent, as if she hadn't heard Todo at all.

"After all, I'm not the type of boorish man who would hold back against his best friend." Todo continued, completely unfazed.

"He's still talking." Y/n muttered under her breath. Mai caught it and stifled a laugh.

The group kicked into high gear, sprinting through the chaos until they spotted Momo hovering nervously on her broomstick above. But just as they caught sight of her, a gigantic Nue crashed down from the sky, sending Momo tumbling to the ground.

"Mai, Mechamaru! Cover for Nishimiya!" Noritoshi ordered urgently.

"Roger!" Mechamaru replied.

With a quick nod, Mai and Mechamaru peeled away to aid Nishimiya, leaving Y/n, Noritoshi, and Miwa to charge ahead. Y/n lingered just behind them, her heart racing not from the sprint, but from an unsettling feeling that prickled at her senses. She kept her eyes peeled on the surrounding area, wary of the encroaching danger.
