A couple of days later, Idunna was sat in a garden outside her bedroom, attempting to practice her magic. Every so often, Toundra's face kept appearing in her head but she managed to smear away that image and get back to her concentration. Once she was done, she lied back in the grass and let out a quiet sigh.
"That demon has been screwing with my sense of focus. I don't understand why she keeps popping up in my head." Idunna spoke to herself with a sense of confusion. She noted everything she felt change with herself whenever Toundra was a thought or in her presence. A rise in temperature, anger that she was pretty certain wasn't even anger, annoyance, a jumble of random thoughts, and the overwhelming sensation of her heart pounding in her chest and ears. For some reason, she could never contain herself around Toundra, no matter how hard she tried. Her usual aloof and level-headed demeanor just vanishes. And she wanted to know why. She had a theory that was immediately dismissed due to two personal morals. Which left her back at square one. But she was determined to figure this out.
Idunna pushed herself to her feet and made her way to the Middle Realm. Earlier that day, Antheia had shared with Idunna that she was going to be in the Middle Realm with Toundra so she could show her favorite places to Antheia. So Idunna decided to try and find them. She picked up Antheia's aura almost instantly the minute she got there and followed that as a trail. It was maybe only seven minutes into her walk when Idunna heard a voice yelling.
"Leave her alone!" The voice said. Idunna ran towards the noise to see four men wearing red masks surrounding Toundra, who was up in a tree trying to keep away from them, and two other men trying to hold Antheia down while she struggled.
"Leave her alone! Who even are you people?!" Antheia yelled again still struggling to get free of the men's hold on her.
Idunna's eyes widened as she saw what was happening before her. She wasted no time and quickly moved. In the blink of an eye, she threw her foot against the head of one of the men holding her sister down, before grabbing the other by the arm and flipping him over on his face, breaking his arm in the process. Both men scrambled off in different directions as fast as they could. Toundra and Antheia noticed Idunna and watched anxiously as the last four men approached her, holding weapons.
"Wow look at this beauty." One of them said. "I bet she'll go for a lot of gold."
Idunna glanced around at the men who were all chuckling while looking at her with malicious hungry eyes.
"Grab her!" They all charged at her yelling.
She caught the handle of the spear that one of the men were holding and snapped it in half before kicking him against a tree, knocking him unconscious. The impact his body made with the tree echoed throughout the woods. The others watched in shock before glaring at Idunna.
"You bitch. How dare you? You'll pay for that."
Idunna readied herself for their next attack before her eyes widened. The leader of the group grinned deviously as his katana's blade exploded in black magic. "Let's see you stop this." He lunged at her, pounding the hilt of his weapon against her face. She fell back before catching her balance in a back flip and crouching seven feet from him, holding her nose, which was now leaking blood. He chuckled looking down at her. "There you go. On your knees where you belong." He charged at her again kicking her into a boulder.
Idunna cried out in pain, feeling her head slam against it.
"Idunna!" Antheia yelled as she watched. The man walked up to her with a smile that could only be described as pure evil, blade in hand. Idunna glared up at him, her head leaking a bit of blood as well.
"I'm gonna take you back to my city. We'll see how much I make for your services."
"That's it, Boss! Put a collar on that bitch!" The other men cheered on their leader as he took out a black metal collar with deep purple jewels and unlatched it for it to open.
Idunna's eyes widened as she stared at the collar. She raised her hand to retaliate but the man moved quicker, driving his blade through her hand into the ground, pinning it there. She bit back a scream and gripped her arm, trembling.
Both Toundra and Antheia watched with a look of disbelief as Idunna shed a tear. This sight invoked something in Toundra. She let out an earth shattering bellow, dropping from the tree. Two of the remaining men whipped around to see the monstrous Toundra rushing at them. Her eyes were flooded with fury as she bared her fangs at one of the men who tried attacking her out of fear. Her tail coiled around his outstretched arm before it sent him flying through at least seven trees, destroying them on contact. The second watched in horror then stared up at Toundra, his hands trembling.
"Don't fucking stand there! Kill it!", the leader ordered.
"But- y-you saw what she just did to Terrence!" His leader simply shoved him forward before going back to what he was doing.
Toundra grabbed the man by his face and threw him over her shoulder before charging at the leader. She was about to attack when suddenly he spun around, driving his blade straight through Toundra's stomach.
"No- TOUNDRA!!" Antheia screamed.
Toundra stopped in her tracks, spitting up blood onto the man. Idunna's eyes widened as she watched. The man chuckled looking up at her.
"Not so big and scary now are you?" He forced it deeper into her, wrenching it as he did. Antheia's eyes welled up with tears as she stared at Toundra, who'd fallen to her knees, gripping the blade.
"Stop- please!" Antheia cried, begging the man. He yanked his katana out of his victim and watched her fall on her side, gripping her stomach tightly.
"Time to end this abomination." He raised his blade over her. But before he could even think to lower it, one of his legs was broken out from under him. He groaned loudly falling to the ground with a loud thud. He looked up to see Idunna keeping him pinned by his throat.
"Oh you fucking bitch. I should've killed you when I had the chance." He struggled under her hold watching her pick up his weapon. Antheia took this chance to rush over to Toundra, who was losing blood fast.
"Toundra- are you okay? Look at me- look at me its gonna be okay-" Antheia frantically tried to get her attention while looking over her wound. "Dunna- its bad. Its really bad. She needs medical attention NOW."
Idunna looked at Toundra and saw her weakly smile before losing consciousness. In no time, Idunna plunged the blade through the man's throat and stood, leaving him to die.
"I'll call for Lilith." Antheia stood and hurried away.
Idunna knelt beside Toundra and pressed her hands against the wound as hard as she could. She watched as the blood pooled out around her hands. Then she felt hot tears begin to stream down her face.
"Damn you Toundra... How dare you get hurt for me?" Her shoulders trembled lightly before she started crying against Toundra.
