The winter sun dipped over the mountains, casting a golden glow over the Kamado household. Cheers of children playing in the winter snow filled the air, portraying a comfortable and warm atmosphere that contrasted with the usual coldness of winter. Soon a young girl, by the name of Nezuko Kamado would arrive, hoisting a basket full of fresh and warm charcoal on her back. She was preparing to leave for the village at the foot of the mountain, to hopefully sell the charcoal and help provide for her family.

"Nezuko." A voice called out. She turned her head and saw her mother, kie standing at the door, "are you sure you want to head to the village today? You know you don't have to. We have enough to last us until the end of this week."

"I know, mother. However I want to make sure we have enough so that everyone can enjoy the new year." Nezuko replied, a warm smile tugged at her mother's lips. She was proud to have such kind hearted children.

"Well, be careful then Nezuko." Kei spoke in a soft voice, giving Nezuko a gentle hug and wishing her a safe journey. As Nezuko was about to leave she heard the sounds of her siblings rushing up to them begging to come with her to the village. However her mother quickly denied them their wishes.

"Nezuko can't take you all to the village today. She can't carry you when you're tired and we cannot take the cart today."

However Shigeru was quick to object.
"Aww, but I promise to walk all the way today mom!"

"Well we all know that's a lie." Nezuko said making Takeo and Hanako both laugh out loud, Shigeru himself was annoyed by Nezuko's words of mockery. However he eventually accepted he and the others couldn't go to the village today but settled when Nezuko promised to take them down another time, maybe when Tanjiro's leg had fully healed.

The siblings and their mother all waved Nezuko goodbye and wished her a safe journey down. Nezuko waved back and smiled she promised them she would be back before nightfall, though their family wasn't the most well-off when it came to financial standards, she honestly didn't mind, she was happy and wouldn't wish for it to be any other way. However as she was walking down the path, the soft crunch of the snow beneath her feet giving off a comfortable rhythmic sound, she heard the sound of something rustling in the bushes, Nezuko glanced at the snow covered bushes and was on guard expecting the worst but to her surprise only a small boy waddled out, holding a small tree branch and began playfully attacking her with it.

"Rokuta! You scared me for a moment." She patted his head and hoisted him into her arms. "Who let you out here so far?"

However her question was quickly answered when another boy exited the bush, she turned her head to see her older brother, Tanjiro, smiling at her and waving. She saw the cast around his left leg which was beginning to heal.

"Haha, hey there Nezuko." Her older brother greeted her with a warm smile. "Rokuta wanted to play out in the snow today, and he wanted to surprise you as you were going down to the village."

Nezuko chuckled, gently putting Rokuta down. Though her smile faded when she looked at Tanjiro's cast.

"You shouldn't be walking out here so far you know? You have to let your leg rest." Nezuko scolded Tanjiro, Who initially began scratching the back of his neck in a cartoonish manner.

"Yeah, sorry I guess and, sorry that you have to do my job this week."

Tanjiro apologised for having Nezuko have to travel to the village today. He dislikes it when other people have to do his job for him. However Nezuko quickly spoke up against his apology.

"Don't be, I'm always happy to help out once in a while."

Tanjiro's face lights up a bit and he chuckles from Nezuko's words as he picks up the now sleepy Rokuta.
