For most aspiring slayers, the final selection exam is the pivotal point within their journey. Years of training and experience will be tested in these seven days within a demon infested forest. Most will probably never make it out, their corpses gorged on by ravenous demons hungry for human flesh. However, those who do succeed and survive the seven days, will have their paths set on a journey to come as true members of the demon slayer corps.
Nezuko and Kanao made their way up the steps to the platform where most slayers in training have already gathered, the sight at first is breathtaking. The purple and pink hue from the wisteria trees would almost make it seem like the entire landscape has been pulled from a fantasy story. Yet the context behind the scene changes the view completely, the knowledge that a demon infested land is just ahead changes the angle in which Nezuko and Kanao view the sight completely.
"Woah... I'm not gonna lie Kanao. This, is actually beautiful." Nezuko mutters, glancing around at every view she could get.
"So many people though..." Kanao spoke quietly as she led both Nezuko and her to a more secluded corner.
As the two were waiting for the final selection to start, another figure arrived just after them. He wore a purple haori and wore a wooden fox mask.
"Phew, I made it just in time." The figure spoke to himself, he looked around at the other participants.
(Master told me that on average 3-8 people will survive the final selection. A shame most of these people here will die... I'll try to change that though.) Tanjiro clenches his fist, vowing to save as many people as he can here and now.
Suddenly his thoughts were interrupted by the combined voices of two small children.
"Good evening, tonight you all will partake in the demon slayer corps final selection exam."
Tanjiro turned to find two identical twins holding what seemed to look like traditional lamps in their hands. Their only defining feature that separated one from the other was the different hair colour each twin had, one had bleached white hair while the other had matt black.
"The exam requires the examinee to survive seven nights on the mountaintop, without any outside aid. Candidates who successfully survive the seven nights are then permitted to become official members of the Demon Slayer Corps." The twins stated the rules and objectives each examinee had to abide by. By this point some participants already began sweating, Tanjiro noticed others having looks of fear within their eyes. Despite this it was already too late for them to turn back at this point, it was all left up to fate whether they survive or not.
Eventually the participants were allowed to enter the forest and now they were left on their own to fend for themselves. Tanjiro immediately jumped into the midst of the forest hunting the demons that resided in the area. Nezuko and Kanao decided to stick together, watching each other's backs as they treaded deeper into the demon infested lands.
As Nezuko and Kanao were venturing within the forest they heard distant screaming to their left. As the noise reached their ears Nezuko immediately dashed to the source of the sound. Kanao right on her tail.
As the duo reached the source of the noise, they were greeted with the sight of several demons fighting over who should get to eat the disarmed candidate. Who had their sword thrown to the side and slowly began to crawl away from the conflict.
Nezuko's eyes focused on one of the demons she unsheathed her sword and dashed straight towards the group. She quickly maenovered her blade through one of the demon's necks, swiftly decapitating it. The other demons turned their heads towards her, rushing blindly at the person who just killed one of their own. However they were quickly despatched of by Kanao who expertly decapitated the remaining demons in a matter of seconds.
