Fitz sat there, flashing a movie-worthy smile as she stood up to greet Sophie, but it disappeared when he saw her expression.

"Sophie, what happened?"

She looked away, towards where Luna and Wynn were playing with the gorgodon in a huge playpen. They had grown so much, now half the size of Silveny and Greyfall. The gorgodon had been friendlier, too, and the alicorn twins were now allowed to be near it as long as they were watched by a gnome, which happened to be Flori today.

Fitz put his hands on her shoulders, "Oh, right."

"Well?" Fitz prompted.

Tears poured down her already damp face

Would you like to talk about it? Fitz's accented voice filled her mind and Sophie jumped back.

Sorry.

No, it's fine.

Not really. Sophie transmitted back, answering his question.

Fitz ran a hand through his hair. Well, I have something for you.

He picked up the gift Sophie saw earlier and handed it to her. She sat down next to the root of the Panakes, listening to the soft songs as she pulled on the white ribbon. The teal wrapping fell to reveal a box, and inside it was a heart-shaped crystal.

A teal one.

"Um, what is the meaning of this?" Sophie asked.

"I still like you, Sophie, a lot," Fitz whispered.

Sophie was speechless. But as Fitz shifted his gaze from her eyes to her lips and leaned in, she pushed him away. Hard.

"WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?" Sophie screamed, finally finding her voice. "I can't, I can't."

"Can't what?" Fitz said, apparently getting angry. "Or wouldn't?"

I looked up, rage boiling inside me.

"You're unbelievable!" Sophie screamed, clutching her head and standing up to face Fitz. "I've told you many times how I am not interested in you anymore, but do you listen? No! You can have any girl you want, Fitz, so stop bothering me!"

Sophie grabbed the crystal heart and shattered it with all her force, causing the splinters to scratch her arms and bleed.

And it didn't help that Fitz didn't even apologize as he held up his home crystal and left while Sophie shook with fury.

She stomped back to the bottom of the opened window and levitated back, hoping no one noticed anything.

But of course Sandor barged into the room, and surprisingly, with a balm for the cuts. He didn't say anything as he applied it, but whispered with his squeaky voice as he left her room.

"I know I'm not an expert on love life, Miss Foster, but even if your head says you don't love someone, your heart disagrees."

She slept to Silveny's soothing scenes, even if everything that happened today appearing among them, haunting her dreams.

But the only thing that really calmed her down was how she's going to make Sandor admit things tomorrow.
