-chapter forty three-

LAYLA SAT IN THE ROCKING CHAIR AS SHE WATCHED TIM FIX THE CRIB.

She liked watching him work, mainly because his muscles moved and flexed every time he did.

Tim looked up noticing her stare. "Are you going to keep staring? Because you're harnessing my energy."

Layla looked at him shocked wondering if Celina had spent too much time in their home. "Your energy?"

"Yeah it might be the reason I can't get this stupid crib to stand on its own."

Layla crossed her arms. "I told you to use the manual book. That's why you're struggling."

"I know you did and I'm still offended you suggested it. I don't need a manual. I am the manual."

She nodded sarcastically. "Sure you are." She the. She then let out a sigh. "I'm hungry. Can we take a break?"

Tim scoffed out a laugh before paused giving her a look.

"Babe you've been sitting this whole time."

She rolled her eyes at him. "Yeah and I'm tired of siting because I'm hungry."

Tim placed down the pieces of the crib. "Let's go."

|-|

Layla smiled softly to herself as she ate her ice cream.

Tim had been called into work earlier in the day on an emergency. So Celina had come over.

"So this is maternity leave life?" Celina said as she sipped her milkshake.

"This and watching Tim get the baby room ready. I can't wait to get back to work though. I didn't think I could ever be so bored."

Celina chuckled before crossing her arms.
"Trust me, it's not exactly sunshine and rainbows back at the station. Especially with everyone trying to locate Oscar and Jason."

"Please keep me in the loop, John says I should be focused on the baby and not on work or anything having to deal with Oscar and Jason."

Celina nodded before she spoke. "Then forget I said anything because John is right. You do need to focus on your baby."

Layla sighed before her eyes widened suddenly as she sat up quickly feeling a tense sensation in her stomach.
