Juliet

Today is the day I'm going to go pick up my dress for the wedding with Serena and my mother. That's in four days, that's way to quick for my liking since not even a two days ago we announced the engagement, but no, my father and Carter's father want us to get married as soon as possible as they can't wait to merge their companies and they won't be doing it, until we walk down the alter.

I sighed and got into my black G- Wagon and texted Serena that I was on my way. I locked my phone and stared the car.

When I parked in front of the boutique, I took a deep breath and got out of the car.

Five days ago I hired a fashion designer Ivy Lè Roux. The woman told me that she doesn't have superpowers. She couldn't create a wedding dress in just five days. She then suggested that I'd like to consider wearing a cocktail-length wedding dress instead of the traditional one.

Since she said that it occurred to me that I don't want to wear such a long train behind me. I don't want such a fucking burden of dragging that excess of fabric on my wedding day. So Ivy sketched another design that I instantly fell in love with at first sight, which is a surprise for me since I'm such a picky person when it comes with my dresses.

I walked into the boutique and saw my mother and Serena. "Juliet finally!" My mother exclaimed once she saw me. "What the hell took you so long?" She questioned as she greeted me by kissing my cheek.

"Traffic." I lied.

She hummed and grabbed my arm, dragging me towards Ivy and Serena. "Hello." I greeted the woman politely.

Ivy smiled at the sight of me. "Hello darling, ready to see your dress?" She asked with a smile.

"Lead the way." We followed Ivy to the back of the boutique and there was my dress on the fashion mannequin. The dress was a tea-length tulle wedding dresses in off-the-shoulder neckline sheer short sleeves lace gowns. "Is this really my dress?"

"Do you like it? I hope you like it." She said looking at the dress.

"Are you kidding me?" I asked her in disbelief. "I don't like the dress. I love it. It's beyond my expectation. You are a genius no wonder why everyone is going crazy about your designs."

"I'm so glad you like it." She said smiling widely at me.

"Thank you so much for this dress. I definitely didn't make a mistake in choosing you as my designer." I said giving her a genuine smile.

I paid for the dress and said my goodbyes to my mother since she got a important meeting to attend.

Me and Serena decided to go for a quick lunch. Serena and I entered the cafe. We sat at a corner booth and waited for someone to come and get our orders.

"So, how are you?" My best friend asked.

I let my eyes move to her with a questioning gaze. "I'm fine?" I asked confused.

She rolled her eyes and let her palms hit the table. "No, how are you?"

"Oh."

"Well?"

"It's gonna take longer than a two weeks to get used to Carter right?" I bit my lip and looked down.

The memory of my parents saying that I'm going to get married replayed in my mind once again. Uninvited and certainly unwanted.

"Hey," Her hand took one of mine. "Everything will be fine. What's that saying? Before you look again you can file for a divorce and the contact between you and Carter will be over." She said.

"Hey Juliet, hey...you." Sloan approached us, giving my best friend some weird greeting. Sloan is Serena's hookup buddy for the recent past few months.

"Hi, burger, fries and a vanilla milkshake." Serena replied flatly.

My eyes darted back and forth between the two. "Uh, yeah same for me, Sloan."

He sent me a smile and left. My eyes narrowed on my best friend who kept her eyes on the people walking around. When she finally looked back at me, I gave her a look as if asking what the hell that was.

"Have you met his girlfriend?" She asked with a frown.

"Not yet." I replied slowly.

"Well I have and let's just say we had words over it." She shrugged and folded her arms.

My best friend and Sloan met in university and since then they were side by side. But I'm starting to think that Serena developed some kind of feelings for him and now she can't do anything about it since he got a girlfriend.

We ate our food that was brought over by someone else. My eyes constantly moved over my surroundings, a habit I've always had. I couldn't sit still without knowing that was going on around me.

"Are you done?" Serena asked.
"We should go we have an important meeting with one of our clients."

I nodded and got up with her.
"Sloan, we're not paying." Serena shouted on our way out, seeing the eye roll he sent us and the multiple heads that turned our way.

I chuckled and followed her back to the car.
