Third Person POV

Up was awakened, not by his phone alarm but by an incoming call from his administrative assistant Kao.

Kao's voice sounded very nasal and congested.

"I won't be able to come to work today, Up, I'm sorry," Kao was saying. "I think I've caught a bug. I'm having Covid symptoms."

"Sorry to hear that, Kao," Up said in a sleepy voice. "I hope you get better quickly."

"I will try," Kao responded before he cut the call.

When Poom knocked on Up's door several times and got no response he quietly turned the knob and walked in. He was surprised to see that Up's bed was empty.

Wow, for the first time since Poom had been Up's personal assistant Poom always had to shake his master awake but this time Poom could hear the shower already running inside Up's bathroom.

Poom wondered what awakened Up so early today as he went through Up's  closet to choose his business outfit for the day.

Poom was bringing out a navy blue suit with a pin striped navy blue and white long sleeved shirt and a dark blue with tiny white polka dotted tie to match the whole attire when he heard his master step out of the bathroom.  The pleasant smell of shampoo and body wash floated to Poom's  nose.

"Good morning ,sir," Poom greeted his master.

"I thought we had agreed last night tht you were going to stop calling me sir," Up reminded Poom.

"Oh,sorry, I did it out of habit," Poom responded.

"I was wondering why you were up earlier than usual today," Poom added before making his way out the door.

"Kao called me earlier to let me know that he can't come in to work today because he was sick," Up provided the information.

It took Poom a few seconds to remember that Kao was the name of his master's administrative assistant.

Because Up started his morning routine early everything was not rushed and Poom was able to bring his master to work earlier than usual as well.

At around five in the afternoon, Poom received the usual call from his master to pick him up from his office building.

"On your  way here, can you please stop at the Indonesian restaurant and pick up the food that I ordered," Up instructed Poom."I will text you the name and address of the restaurant."

"Very well," Poom said, barely stopping short of adding 'sir'.

"Take me to this address, Poom," Up said as soon as he settled in his seat.

Poom received the notification of an incoming text on his phone.

Up had texted him the address that he had asked Poom to take him.

It was not too far away from the office building.

Poom followed the directions on his phone map.

When he reached the destination he noticed that it was a duplex located in a quiet neighborhood.

Poom parked the car on the curb right outside the entrance of the duplex.

"Can you please hand me the bag of food from the Indonesian restaurant" Up asked Poom,  and Poom carefully lifted the  brown paper bag with the restaurant logo from the front seat and handed it over to Up.

"I won't be too long," Up promised before stepping out of the car.

Poom watched as Up walked up to the door of the B side of the duplex.

Poom continued to watch as his master pressed the buzzer and waited.

When the door opened, Poom immediately recognized the face of Kao.

Wow, what a lucky employee, Poom thought, to be personally visited by his boss and be gifted with some delicious Indonesian food when he gets sick.

As Poom waited for his master to come back to the car, he wondered if Up would come to visit him in his quarters if he ever got sick.

As if summoned by that thought, Poom felt a tickle in his throat and he had to cough  loudly several times to get rid of it.

"Are you okay?"

Poom got startled by Up's voice. He had not expected Up to be back in the car so soon.
