|Chapter 7 | Realization
"NICE TO MEET you Rachel." I reply to the girl who is now taking a seat beside me.
It's a relief to actually talk to someone today.
I'm currently halfway through the day and have made it through most of my classes unnoticed. I kept to myself for most of the day, by sitting in the back of the classrooms and avoiding drawing attention to myself. While all of that was my choice it is nice to get to talk to someone.
"I'm sorry. That was a really bad first impression." Rachel states with some embarrassment in her voice.
I turn to look at her and let out a laugh to make her feel more at ease.
"That's the first time I've laughed all day, so you're fine don't worry." I give her a genuine smile.
"What do you mean, you haven't laughed all day?!" She asks in pure shock. "How bad has your day been?"
"Not bad just, more boring than I thought it would be." I explain with honesty in my words.
"Of course it was boring it's school." Rachel explains with a roll of her eye and a giggle. "What did you think it would be, a party?"
Something about her is oddly familiar but I can't put my brain on it.
It feels like déjà vu.
"Well I mean I wouldn't know I've been homeschooled my whole life." I say before thinking. Great now she's going to think I'm that one weird homeschooled girl that is always in those movies me and my brother watched.
"Me too!" She exclaims. "Thank goodness I'm not the only one, but come on girl, even I knew real school would be boring as fuck."
