"What about you? Would they come looking for you? Did you run away from home?"
Although Nana wasn't the type to share her life story with just anyone, palaging may something sa loob niya na gustong maging transparent kay Kasper.
It's like wanting to bare her soul and show him her innermost self. It was that extreme to her.
Kasper, however, continued to stare at her as she gazed at the ocean.
"Do you have friends back in the city?" he asked, shifting his gaze forward while hugging his left knee and leaning back.
"I don't think I do." Umiling si Nana, "I mean, it's a personal choice, hindi ako madaling magtiwala."
"And yet, you trust me."
A flicker of vulnerability crossed her features—she was aware of it, and so was Kasper.
"There's a difference between those who actively work to gain your trust and those who just happen to be around without making an effort," paliwanag niya.
"You were the first one.
There was a part of him that felt wary, conflicted even, about what she'd said, because he didn't see himself that way at all.
Clearly, he thinks he isn't likable. Maybe to some, he was their ideal type, but would anyone truly come to him and stay when there wasn't much to say or do?
Could someone possibly trust him that much?
"But I still want to know why. If you're willing to tell me, I'd love to hear it."
He pondered it, thought about it again, and wondered if there was actually an answer.
"You're not going to call me your female counterpart again, are you?"
"I think it's just in your nature too," simula nya. "You're so calm and soft-spoken that it feels like your very presence puts me at ease. It's similar to how I felt with Sebastian and Icarus, but different. If that made sense."
