The kiss was as electrifying as I imagined it would be. Every movement of his lips… every single time his tongue swept against mine, my body was ignited in ways I couldn’t fathom… ways no one had ever managed to make me feel before.
Whenever I feel his hold on me tighten, it felt like every single one of my problems disappeared in an instant. No journal, no threats… just us.
I thanked the heavens I wore the smudge-proof lipstick I bought during a secret rendezvous to Korea once. I didn’t fear that however hard or sensual Adam kissed me would leave any evidence on my dolled-up face. Though, I’d like to see the reflection of a woman who had been ruined for any man out there by a single kiss in a mirror.
The media weren’t allowed to enter the premises as per Balthazar’s family’s strict rules, which was why I didn’t mind if I were kissed here, in the middle of the dancefloor. Plus, the guests were also wearing masks, including me, which made people quite undistinguishable.
A sigh escaped Adam’s lips when I tangled my fingers into his hair, pulling him impossibly closer as if the paper-thin distance we have wasn’t enough. I need to feel him.
Unfortunately, he pulled away, biting my lower lip as he did so.
“Let’s get out of here,” he breathed out almost forced. I simply nodded, my mind still to occupied with the almost minute-long kiss we shared.
The chances of someone recognizing us were thin, but it didn’t mean Derek wouldn’t. He knew what I was wearing, and even though he left a moment ago, I wasn’t sure if he stood on the side to watch whatever scene that just took place.
I wasn’t ashamed of what I’d done, but… the kiss blurred whatever lines me and Adam had drawn over the course of one and a half month we’d shared. I’m not sure what to call it, but I do know we have to talk about it sooner or later before we give each other false hopes.
Adam kept his arm wrapped around my waist as he maneuvered us out the venue. He removed his mask, and so did I, motioning for the valet to bring us his car.
Then, seconds later, we were already speeding through the night. The tension was there… it was palpable enough that it made my pulse spike up a notch at the thoughts of what could happen after this.
I looked at Adam who kept one of his hand on the steering wheel, while the other one rubbed his jaw with the elbow rested on the car door beside him. His jaw was set into a hard line as if he was stopping himself from doing something he surely will regret.
People say, it’s fun to do the things you were forbidden to do. It gives some sense of adrenaline that keeps our soul alive.
Adam is my bodyguard who was tasked by my aunt to watch over me 24/7. Things are not as complicated as it seems, but I didn’t know the contents of the contract he’d signed before he worked for me.
Was it written in his contract that he wasn’t allowed to get physical with his client?
Was it forbidden to get involved in a romantic relationship with his client?
I’m not sure if Deborah would even think that Adam would want anything to do with me — as someone more than his client — but the possibility was as present as day. I’m still unfamiliar with how Deborah’s mind works. Who knows, maybe she really did add a no fraternization rule in the contract Adam signed.
