chapter 6: Told Gus and Jules

Juliet was right at the start of explaining the case when she realised that she had no idea how to address her partner correctly. Luckily Lassie was wearing his bracelet so the He/Him was perfectly clear. Juliet just hoped that he would be fine with the name Carlton and She was right. Carlton smiled at her efforts to check his bracelet and be polite then they carried on with the tour of the crime scene.

"Ah so right here is the victim." Juliet said, standing next to the body in the middle of the road, "Sarah Bridgett, Female, 5'2, we are guessing she ran infront of the vehicle that hit her.".

"Evidence?"

"The tire tracks show that the vehicle swerved to the left first then she was hit right here in the middle of the road."

"Right so-" Carlton had started talking but Shawn quickly and loudly butt in.

"Actually it was a Murder! This was simply made to look like a suicide so that you wouldn't be looking for the murderer!"

"But Shawn the-" Juliet started talking but yet again Shawn cut her off.

"The body was moved! If your guys actually looked they would see.... ummm around three patches of blood on the other side of the road and it was clearly done on purpose!" Shawn continued saying, the others starting to listen more intently to his explanation.

Carlton ordered a few officers to check for the blood and indeed there was more evidence on the other side of the road showing that the body was moved so therefore the car had swerved to hit the girl not to avoid her. It was the complete opposite of what they had thought at the beginning.

"Good work Spencer." Carlton said, clapping him on the shoulder then walking off. Juliet raised an eyebrow questioningly but did not pry and instead followed Lassiter.

Gus was more of the prying type and so has a lot of questions that he definitely will ask.

"Shawn what on Earth happened between you and Lassie and do I even want to Know?!"

"Well I have got myself a gorgeous boyfriend." Shawn told him, looking extremely full of himself.

Gus was about to argue that that had nothing to do with Lassie but the realisation kicked in and his expression was one of absolute Horror and disgust.
"Okay so I didn't want to know." He said.

"Oh Relax Gus. Don't be the squirrel that stole my Taco last night!" Shawn said, running over to where Carlton and Juliet stood consulting with another officer.
Gus shook his head in exasperation and followed him.

"Ah Shawn got any more psychic feelings?" Juliet asked when she noticed him standing next to them.

"Oh no not yet, I'll need to have a bit more of a walk around, feel the energy y'know." Shawn responded, about to walk away when Juliet asked another question.

Eyebrows furrowed together in a questioning manner and her eyes looking Shawn up and down, inspecting him thoroughly. "Shawn, Are you wearing Carlton's shirt and... well...that's all his clothes...?" She asked.

Shawn froze then looked towards Carlton as if asking a question. Lassie gave him a small smile, answering Shawn's question.

"Yes." Shawn said Proudly, nodding and looking directly at Juliet whose eyebrows went up in shock but quickly went down as she spoke, "Okay so you're finally dating then?". It sounded more like a statement than question so both Carlton and Shawn simply smiled in agreement.

Of course they talked to Gus and Jules about not telling everyone right away because they had only been together for a few hours and they had no idea what rules there were on a head detective dating a consultant.

The case turned out to be a rather easy one except for the extremely large and confusing family tree of Sarah Bridgett and the lack of evidence left to find the murderer. It was quite difficult to find anyone related to her let alone the specific person that had motive, opportunity and means to kill her.

Shawn and Carlton spent a lot of time together, often using the case as an excuse to hang out even more.

Everyone at the station knew of the sexual tension between the two but they also knew not to mention it so they only just noticed the growing kindness between them. Lassiter was definitely less angry and Shawn was more relaxed.
