Taelyn's breath came in short, frantic gasps as her vision blurred and her heart raced uncontrollably. She felt like the walls were closing in, suffocating her with their oppressive weight.

Steven noticed the change in her demeanor immediately. He rushed to her side, gently placing a hand on her shoulder. "Taelyn, hey, look at me," he said softly, trying to break through the haze of panic. His voice was calm and steady, like an anchor in a storm.

She struggled to focus, her mind a whirlwind of fear and confusion. Steven kept talking, his tone soothing and reassuring. "You're safe, Taelyn. Breathe with me, okay? In... and out... nice and slow."

Steven took slow, deliberate breaths, exaggerating the motions so Taelyn could follow. Gradually, she mirrored his breathing, the rhythm helping to calm the frantic beat of her heart. Her breaths began to steady, the fog of panic slowly lifting.

"That's it," Steven encouraged, keeping his voice low and comforting. "You're doing great. Just keep breathing."

As Taelyn's panic subsided, exhaustion took its place. Steven guided her to the couch, wrapping a soft blanket around her shoulders. "Try to rest now," he whispered, smoothing her hair back from her face.

Taelyn nodded, her eyes heavy with fatigue. She felt safe with Steven there, his presence a comforting balm against the lingering tendrils of anxiety. Within moments, she drifted into a deep, peaceful sleep, her breathing slow and even.

Steven watched over her, relieved to see her at ease, and vowed to be there whenever she needed him.

. . .

Taelyn yawned as they walked down to the lab, with coffee in her hand. Last night was extremely crazy, still leaving scars on her arms. She never thought that her past would always haunt her mind, but did it really leave?

"Okay, your mission supplies are packed, the schematics have been uploaded into Chase's chip, and your transport is on the way. Did I forget anything?" Donald said.

"No, we'll just guess what the mission is and see how long it plays out," Bree said sarcastically.

Donald sighs. "Alright. A particle collider is a three-mile-long underground facility where scientists--"

"Race subatomic particles at each other at light speed for energy experiments." Chase giggles, jumping up and down. "So cool!"

"I know!" Donald agreed.

Taelyn and Steven exchanged looks. "I don't think this can get worse."

"Deedle-deedle-dee!" Chase & Donald laughed.
