The final bell rings, and students flood out of classrooms, eager to escape. Bree, Chase, Adam, Taelyn, Steven, and Callie walk together, heading for the exit.

Bree dramatically sighs. "I'm so glad school's over! Ms. Thistle talked for an hour in history. I mean, she's 90. Does she really need to waste all that breath?"

Callie laughs. "At this point, I think she's just trying to outlive all of us."

Steven shrugged. "Or she's secretly a robot. Maybe she recharges during lunch."

Chase raising an eyebrow. "That would be scientifically impossible."

Adam grinning. "And yet, we exist."

Before they can leave, they notice a security checkpoint set up by the entrance. Principal Perry stands in the middle of it, flanked by two intimidating lunch ladies holding metal detectors.

Chase asked. "What's all this?"

Perry explained. "Listen up, frogspawn! Security check. Put all metal objects in the bucket and proceed to the wands for a more thorough search."

Taelyn crossing her arms. "Is this really necessary?"

Perry explained once again. "Somebody's been stealing computers from the computer lab, and I'm gonna bust the perp. Or perps. Bottom line, nobody leaves this school without going through those metal detectors. And now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to sort through your loose change and have a little heart-to-heart with the vending machine."

Perry walks off, muttering to herself. The group exchanges nervous glances.

Bree whispering. "Guys, we cannot get wanded. Those things will go off like crazy if they detect our bionics."

Chase groaned. "Well, what are we going to do? She's totally going to bust us."

Perry suddenly appearing behind Chase. "Bust you for what? What are you hiding, little Bo-Peep?"

Bree forcing a smile. "He's not hiding anything."

Adam shrugged. "Well... he does have an unusually large birthmark on his left hip. If you stare at it long enough, it kinda looks like Justin Bieber."

Callie stifling laughter. "I am not asking how you know that."

Perry squinting. "Alright, let's go. Empty your pockets."

Chase walks up. "Principal Perry..."

Perry yelled. "Comply, perp! Wand him." The lunch ladies scan Chase. When they reach his neck, the detector beeps loudly. Perry's eyes widen. "Well, what do you know? We got one! Flank him, girls—the little ones always put up a fight!"

The school is mostly empty now. The group stands near the security setup, while Perry paces in front of them, arms crossed. "Everyone else cleared the checkpoint hours ago. So why do you three fleshbags keep setting it off? You may not have the laptops, but you're definitely hiding something."
