two. queen's gambit

♥️♣️♦️♠️

The King found the Queen pacing their chambers, shuffling, flipping, and toying with her beloved deck of cards. A grave look befell the King. That wasn't good. And it didn't make things better with that dazzling smile she had, grinning from ear to ear like that dreadful Cheshire cat, big brown eyes lit up like a child in a (banned) bakery. Something has excited the Queen. If it was this invitation to Auradon, then pestering for answers was a must now.

"My dearest," cooed the King, relaxing her face a bit. "Is there a true reason you have accepted this invitation to Auradon?"

The Queen turned towards her King, an evil twinkle in her big brown eyes. "Oh, yes there is, Wolfie, darling! It's something I have always wanted to happen."

"Oh," swallowed the King, looking concerned as she took a seat at the vanity. "How marvelous. And what is that?"

"I have been piecing this precious plan of mine for sometime now, I just needed the perfect moment to enact-a coup!"

"A coup?" asked the King, raising a hairless brow.

"Yes!" she nearly shouted, clasping her deck of cards in her hands firmly. "With Red's invitation, this allows us to strike while their guard is down. They will be too busy with their own agenda to even notice ours."

The King had to admit, this was a great plan, especially with Auradon's King and Queen away at the moment, as their defenses are truly down without Mal. All the more to strike them while they are weak. How perfect, indeed!

But still, what about Red? How will she feel once they steal her spotlight?

"I like it!" said the King.

"Of course, you do, my dearest, I made the plan," dismissed the Queen.

"But what about Red? What will she think?" asked the King, rising from her seat and looking down at her wife.

"She will think I am the best mother in all the land after I do this, Whitney," said the Queen, emphasizing the King's real name. The Queen's eyes darkened as her lips downturned to a frown. "Are we having second thoughts, already? Remember, wife, you swore your allegiance to me."

The King blinked several times, mouth going dry. When the Queen grew serious with her like this, it meant she could be in big trouble if she just so thought about opposing her. "No, My Queen. I have been loyal to you since the day I came to Wonderland. And I will continue to be."

The Queen cupped the King's face in her hand and then roughly let her go. "Good," she said. "So, stop worrying about what our daughter will think, and worry about doing your part in this coup."
