In the dead of night, Walter entered Y/n's room. Whether it was nerves or instinct, he sensed something amiss. His nephew's well-being was his priority, and he'd vowed to Catherine to never falter. No matter the monstrous challenges ahead, Walter was prepared to confront them all to safeguard Y/n.

Approaching his nephew, Walter's eyes widened in shock upon noticing a peculiar symbol that appeared to be branded onto Y/n's face. Initially confused, the symbol struck him as both familiar and foreboding. The seasoned vampire hunter cautiously touched Y/n's face for a closer examination. Recognition dawned on him, and a chill of dread swept through him as his heart plummeted.

It was the very symbol of the devil...

Walter stepped back, his mind swirling with countless thoughts. Could Y/n's father be a demon? If that were the case, the Hellsing family must be notified. However, as Walter was about to depart, he thought of Catherine. He couldn't betray her and Y/n in such a manner, even if it spelled trouble for the future.

Walter remembered very vividly his promise to Catherine, he couldn't betray her like this...

Watching as Y/n slept, the Hellsing butler decided he would tackle this situation tomorrow, leaving the room, Water looked back at Y/n...

I hope this doesn't turn out badly....

NEXT MORNING

Y/n's eyelids gradually lifted as he awoke. Curling one hand into a fist, he brushed away the dust from his eyes while yawning into the other. Swinging his legs off the bed, he rose sluggishly, his emotions and mood appearing steady as he proceeded from the bedroom into the expansive halls of the manor...

Humming to himself, completely unaware of the two marks on his body, he made his way to Walter's room with a sense of happiness. He walked steadily until he reached his uncle's room. He paused, however, upon hearing Walter muttering from inside. Slightly confused, Y/n pushed the door open.

Y/n opened the door and watched as Walter seemingly froze at his presence, stepping into the room while tilting his head in confusion, Y/n spoke in a groggy tone...

Y/n: U-Uncle Walter? What's wrong?

Y/n approached Walter, but the aging butler retreated subtly, deepening his nephew's confusion. After a moment, Walter found the courage to meet his nephew's gaze. The youth was oblivious to his heritage as the offspring of a demon. This realization made Walter ponder—what would become of Y/n? Would Sir Integra perceive him as a threat?

Or worse...

A weapon to be used?...

Walter: Come in Y/n, there's...something I need to show you...

Y/n complied and ventured further into Walter's bedroom. The elderly butler gestured for him to sit on the bed. As Y/n hopped onto the bed, his eyes brimmed with curiosity and wonder, which only intensified Walter's heartache over the impending task.

Walter: Y/n...what do you know about your father?

Y/n paused, reflecting on the scant details he knew about his absent father. His mother had described a man who was neither good nor evil; a man who lived as an unnoticed soul in the world. Catherine had encountered him in a dimly lit bar and had fallen in love with him, With only these fragments of information, Y/n chose to be candid with Walter.

Y/n: Mum only told me a little, said my dad wasn't special or anything...kinda just...was there...

Walter tightened his fists ever so slightly as he wondered why Catherine wouldn't speak to Y/n about his father, was she ashamed of what happened? the vampire hunter couldn't tell...
