Little Y/n was seated in the expansive dining hall of the Hellsing manor, his gaze intently set on the meal ahead. Having not eaten for some time, he felt ravenous, ready to devour any dish presented to him. Yet, he understood the need for decorum, to not seem like an ill-mannered child. With deliberate slowness, he reached for the cutlery beside his plate and began to carve into the tender beef and potatoes before him.

Sir Integra simply observed Y/n as he ate, reflecting on the information Walter had provided. Y/n had led a sheltered life with limited experiences, and the journey across the country, coupled with the loss of his mother, must have been terrifying for the boy. Yet, Integra was confident in his ability to adapt, even considering the possibility that Y/n might choose to become a vampire hunter when he came of age.

That however was a conversation will down the line, first, Y/n would need to grieve...

Sir Integra: You are quite the polite little boy aren't you? most children are messy eaters but you are different.

Y/n: M-Mama said the same, I just don't want to...bother...you...

Sir Integra: Your mother has taught you will, I know all of this must be a shock, but I promise you'll be treated right here, you'll go to school, have an education and make friends.

Y/n remained quiet while Integra spoke. His mother had decided against sending him to school, preferring to educate him at home. Despite some issues with the authorities, Catherine was able to persuade them. As a result, Y/n didn't have many friends, a fact unknown to Integra.

As Y/n continued to eat, he couldn't shake the sensation of being watched. It was a chilling, deeply unpleasant feeling. He glanced around briefly but saw no one, leaving him puzzled about the cause of his discomfort. Shaking off the feeling, he focused on finishing the small amount of food left on his plate.

Sir Integra appeared to notice that Y/n was tense. Her curiosity piqued as she pondered the cause of such a shift. For a moment, she considered the possibility of Alucard lurking in the shadows, and the mere thought prompted an audible sigh from Integra.

Sir Integra: Your okay Y/n, there's nothing to be afraid of.

Y/n: I-I'm fine sir Integra...

Sir Integra: There is no need to be formal Y/n, just call me Integra.

Y/n remained silent for a moment, having been taught by his mother to show respect to important people. Even though Sir Integra preferred a casual demeanor around her, it wasn't something he could easily adopt.

Y/n was simply too kind, it was in his very nature to be kind.

Y/n: I...I'd rather call you Sir Integra miss...

Sir Integra: I see, you are kind to call me as such, you will fit in just fine around this old manor.

Y/n offered a faint smile, but it quickly faded as a familiar sensation of being watched crept over him. His eyes narrowed in suspicion, and a sudden, intense wave of fear washed through him.

In an instant, Y/n felt incredibly small, his hands trembling as tears welled up in his eyes. Integra observed this with a shocked expression as tears streamed down the young boy's face.

Sir Integra: Y-YN!? ARE YOU OKAY?

Paralyzed with fear, Y/n could see a solitary figure standing among the millions of dead bodies, feeling as though he was being thrown onto hot coals while he struggled to soothe his raging nerves.

Sir Integra swooped Y/n into her arms and tried to calm him down, her shirt growing wet from his tears.

Sir Integra: Your okay, just focus on my voice...

Y/n obeyed, gradually regaining composure yet remained haunted by the vision he witnessed. The figure, looming over the bodies of millions, instilled such fear in Y/n that tears would cascade down his cheeks like a waterfall whenever the memory surfaced.

Sir Integra: What happened Y/n?! Are you okay?!

Y/n: I-I saw...someone...

Sir Integra: And who did you see? what could have frightened you that much?

Y/n didn't want to cause concern for Integra; they had promised to be brave and were not about to break that promise to their mother. Summoning all their courage and bravery, they met Integra's gaze firmly.

Y/N: I-I'm fine Sir Integra, I'm sure it was nothing...

Sir Integra mumbled something inaudible, and Y/n, catching the anger in her eyes, wondered if he had erred. Ashamed, he lowered his gaze to his feet.

Y/n: I'm sorry if I've upset you miss Integra....

Sir Integra: You have nothing to apologize for Y/n, your clearly distressed and I was worried about you, are you sure you don't want to talk about what you saw?

Y/n: N-No, I'm probably just sleepy and imagined it...

Sir Integra: Then let's get you to bed, Walter can show you where you'll be sleeping....

-----------

After Y/n was tucked into bed, Sir Integra resolved to confront Alucard. She was irked by the thought that the vampire might have frightened the young boy. The notion of Alucard being so heartless and cruel vexed Integra immensely. How dare he exacerbate the hardships of a young boy's life?

Upon entering Alucard's underground lair, Sir Integra didn't hesitate. She noticed Alucard seated in his chair, sporting a look of surprise. Integra, however, was unmoved; Alucard had frightened the boy and now had to face her fury.

Sir Integra: WHAT WAS GOING THROUGH YOUR SICK MIND WHEN YOU SCARED Y/N?!

Alucard remained silent for a moment. He was, of course, aware of the young boy his master had decided to take in, as well as the fact that Y/n was Walter's nephew...

Alucard: There are many things wrong with me Master, But I must confess, I have no idea what you are talking about-

Integra however wasn't having it, slapping Alucard across the face as her rage reached an all new level.

Sir Integra: That young boy has suffered more than most people should! you cannot be scaring our guests! Y/n nearly had a panic attack when he saw you! do you feel no shame?!

Alucard: That's just the thing master...I haven't seen the boy yet...

Integra's expression turned from anger to confusion, Alucard was many things, a killer, a vampire, an old immortal, but he was no liar...

Sir Integra: What do you mean?

Alucard: I mean I haven't left the room since this morning...

Integra stayed silent for a moment, Alucard could very well be telling the truth as his expression never changed, But if Y/n didn't see Alucard, then what caused the poor boy's panic attack?

Alucard: I knew you would have expected me, but rest assured I have no intentions of making Y/n feel worse than he already is, no, It wasn't me.

Integra pondered Alucard's words, considering the likelihood that the stress had become so overwhelming it led Y/n to hallucinate. The young boy had endured several taxing hours, enough to drive a less resilient person to madness...

But then again...

Maybe Y/n truly did see someone...

Sir Integra: if I find out you have lied to me Alucard...

Alucard: I'm not lying...but I will say this...Y/n...he's different.

Sir Integra: what do you mean?

Alucard: I mean this, All humans have a familiar scent to them, Y/n scent however isn't...normal...

Sir Integra finally managed to put the pieces together...

Y/n might not be fully human...
