Life and Death

"I can't believe she's making us do this." Hendrix grumbled as he followed Tatum and Jian out of their van and towards the trunk to gather their supplies.

"Quit complaining, she's our boss." Jian hissed at them as he strapped himself up.

"Yong is the only boss I know." Jude muttered coming to join them with Sebastian and Yong alongside him. Yong didn't say anything as he checked if his guns were loaded before putting them in their straps.

"Well, she's the one that gave us all that we have today." Jian countered boldly, everbody glared at him, just eager for him to shut up. Yong walked over to him and he cowered back slighly.

He slammed a rifle into his chest. "If I wanted a bitch to accompany me,  I would've brought Jude's dog with me." Jian lowered his head slightly.

"Hey, don't bring Bam into this." Jude whined and Yong gave him a look before turning to the others.

"Listen, there's a reason why Julian asked us to do this and I have a feeling that she's up to something. Becareful and stay alert, it's Baek-ung we're dealing with." The nodded before getting the last of their things.

Yong looked over at Tatum who was nervously biting his lip as he fiddled with his gun. He smiled gently as he approached him and put his hand over his trembling hands.

"Hey, let me help you." The gang life had never been for Tatum, he was a poor victim of his circumstances and Yong wished nothing more than to give Tatum what he deserved; life as a student, studying music, instead of here, an orphan and forced into criminal activity and servitude. "I know you're nervous, but it'll be ok. You know I'll never let you get hurt." He said sincerely, gently ruffling Tatum's hair as he returned the now loaded gun.

"I-I know, it's not me I'm worried about. It's you. Julian's punishing you, she knows we can't handle a criminal like Baek-ung alone."

Yong smile again, "You've always been quite observant. Well, let's give her what she wants." Tatum furrowed his brows in confusion but followed his boss out nonetheless.

The night was thick with tension as Yong led his crew through the dimly lit alleyways of the city. Their task was simple, find Baek-ung, another crime lord and Julian's direct rival. He was ruthless and impossible to find with his men littered around the city at all times, something Julian knew. So, her sudden mission for them to find him was something Yong knew came out of spite. Now, whether she wanted Yong dead, he was unsure and they were about to find out. Jude, ever the strategist, flanked Yong on the left, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings. Hendrix and Sebastian moved silently on the right, while Jian and Noah covered the rear, their steps synchronized with almost military-like precision.

As they approached and old warehouse, Yong held up his hand, signaling them to stop. He could sense something off—an unsettling stillness in the air, as if the shadows themselves were watching. "Stay sharp," he whispered, his voice barely audible.

They reached the warehouse door, and with a nod from Yong, Tatum expertly picked the lock. The door creaked open, revealing a vast, dimly lit space. Stacks of crates lined the walls, and the flickering light from a single bulb cast eerie shadows across the floor.

Yong motioned for them to move in, their footsteps barely making a sound on the cold concrete. They spread out, each taking a position to cover the room. Yong's eyes were locked on the far corner, looking for any signs of trouble. He could feel the weight of his crew's trust on his shoulders, and he knew they'd follow him into the fire if needed. And that's exactly what he didn't want. Whatever trap Julian had laid out for them, he needed to make sure he found it before any of them could get hurt.
