Comfort

Ezra woke up with a start, looking down to see that Yong's blood was still on her clothes and her hands. She rushed towards the bathroom, scrubbing desperately until her hands were red and raw before quickly removing her clothes and throwing them away before changing. She gazed at herself in the mirror, she had changed. It had been more than two months since she first got here and she hadn't realised how much she had changed. She felt chronically tired, her mind never at peace.

She needed to get out of here but she was beginning to wonder if that would ever happen. Especially now that she had quite literally saved the life of the person keeping her here. Finding out that Yong was keeping her here out of affection was worse than her being a threat that needed getting rid of. She should have let him die, Yong would never allow her to leave and that might have been her only chance.

But seeing him like that, so helpless and so lifeless. Despite her intense hatred of him, she couldn't do it, she couldn't just let him die. She heard the sound of knocking on her door and she rushed from the bathroom into the main room, meeting Jude as he entered.

"Is he alright?" She rushed out and Jude nodded, slightly taken aback by her interest in Yong's well-being. It was for her benefit that he died, then she could get back home. Then again, Jian would never let that happen. Yong was quite literally the only thing keeping Jian from just putting a bullet through her head.

Ezra let out of a breath but she wasn't anymore relieved than she had been before. She quietly made her way back to her bed, sitting back against the headboard.

"Are you alright?" Jude questioned, sitting on the edge of her bed as he spared a quick glance. She shook her head, bringing her knees to her chest as she gave him a forlorn look. Seeing Yong like that, so grievously injured and practically on the brink of death, and then also being responsible for keeping him alive all while a gun was pointed to her head and no regard was spared for her actual ability to do it, it was too much. Her hands shook and she clasped them together to keep still, she was still with shock and desperate for some of comfort, even it came from Jude. I mean they had slept together twice, it wasn't something  unreasonable to ask of him. Right?

"Jude." She spoke softly, her voice echoing vulnerability.

Jude stared at her,  knowing exactly what she wanted, what she needed to cope with the pain she was experiencing day after day since she got her. His hand reached out for her but he paused, as if suddenly remembering who he was,  before pulling it back and getting up.

"Get some sleep." He said as he walked out of her room.

"Hey, hey, you're alright." Sebastian soothed as Yong's eyes flew open and he all but shot up into an upright position. He grunted feeling the sharp pain his shoulder and leg, looking at his injuries as he tried to piece together what happened.

"Is everyone ok?" He asked, his voice hoarse from not being used and Sebastian nodded.

"Yeah, thanks to you brother. You knew Julian was up to something all along didn't you?"

"I wasn't sure," Yong responded as he tried to make himself comfortable in his bed. "But I knew there was no way she would ask us to go after Baek-Ung so recklessly if she actually knew where he was and I also knew she's still pissed about the whole Ezra thing."

"Yeah, well speaking of Ezra. Maybe it's time to decide what you're going to do with h-"

"How long have I been out?" Yong interrupted, knowing what Sebastian wanted to say and not wanting to hear it.

"Couple days, we've all been staying here. I sent Jude with the others to the warehouse while I stayed here with you."

"I should go and show face. It's not good for the men to not see me for so long, especially with Julian so eager to breed mistrust." He got up out of bed, hopping one leg and looking down slightly suprised with the fact that he was actually in a boot, which at least made him able to somewhat walk, albeit with crutches.

"Yes, but before that Ez-"

"Quit pestering me about her, when the time comes I'll know what to do with her!"

"Yong, she's the one that saved your life." Sebastian deadpanned.

"W-hat?"

"You were unconscious and losing a lot of blood, Jude was on his way to get the doctor but you were practically dying. Someone had to do something until the doctor arrived, we all knew that. Jian got her to save you until Jude returned."

Yong blinked. He had found it hard to believe that Ezra willingly saved his life, she was unforgiving and capable of watching him die, even if it came at the cost of her never escaping this place. After all, he had made it abundantly clear he would never let her leave this place on his watch.  She would know to relieve him of his watch.

"How did Jian make her do it?" He doubted that he just spoke nicely to her.

Sebastian scratched the back of his head, slightly looking down in shame. "He didn't really have to make her, I'm sure she would've done it anyway but she was just nervous, it must have been the first time she saw someone that injured. But, she was taking too long to get a grip of herself and you were bleeding so,"

"So what?" Yong pressed, his hands forming into fists, apprehensive of what Jian might have done or said.

"He put a gun to her head. She was freaked out  beyond belief but it was necessary Mason, you were bleeding out."

"Where is she now?"

"She collapsed and we had to-"

Yong didn't stay for the rest,  he found himself hobbling with his crutch down the hallway towards Ezra's room, his injured arm in a sling.

He hurriedly opened the bedroom door, the abruptness of the action causing Ezra to all but jump out of her bed. She stared at him for a second as she tried to gauge her surroundings before letting out a small gasp.

"Yong?" She questioned before her bottom lip trembled slightly and a tear slipped down her cheek. It all came rushing back to her, the blood, the yelling, the barrel of a gun against her temple. It had been a few days and she hadn't heard anything from him or the others. Simply locked away in her room and only disturbed for meals. She was slowly losing her grip of reality, the violence surrounding her threatening to consume her. It had also been an eye-opener, a glimpse of what things would look like and the others were in charge. She couldn't quite believe but, perhaps she needed Yong.

Yong saw the toll what had happened was having on her and he realised the comfort she desperately needed and lacked. Like Jude, he knew what she needed. And unlike Jude, he wasn't afraid to provide it to her, except he just wasn't sure she'd have him. He limped slowly to her and Ezra watched as he carefully wrapped her up in his embrace. His larger and bigger frame made it so that she fully enveloped by him.

"Thank you." He whispered gently, as he stroked the back of her head.

She wanted to push him away, she wanted to scream, yell and punch him. Remind him that all of this was happening to her because of him. But the soft and oddly sweet smell of him invaded her nostrils and she felt herself relax. And in that moment, in that moment of desperation, in that moment of despair, loneliness and yearning, all she could do was yield. And so she did, she held on to him as she would a loved one and cried.
