(Gambit/Remy LeBeau x reader)

You’d heard about what happened with Rogue, Remy, and Magneto after Magneto arrived. Remy having told you, in explicit detail the image Sinister put into his mind of it all, until he saw it with his real eyes, going to his favourite bar of the mansion to hide from the own idea of it, not even wanting to confront the feeling he had over it as it weighed too greatly on his charming ego.

“Sorry about that, cher… Gambit didn’t know you’ze was gonna come in here. Maybe Gambit gon’ go ‘way again…” He murmured, his third person Cajun accented way off speech prominent as he put the more heavily spiked whiskey he made himself on the bar and went to step away again to wallow in self pity without damaging his ego with the other members of his team, but in the end you both knew you wouldn’t let him just rot in a hole like that. He was your best friend after all.

After around thirty minutes of you trying to get him to finally open up, his ego finally cracked and he allowed himself to finally vent, even just a little bit in his own Cajun way.

“Gambit knew Magneto and Rogue were gettin’ a little bit to familiar, cher! They’ze be being too sweet and Gambit just knows Rogue’d never actually do somethin’ like that! Magneto must’ve done somethin’ to her. Gambit knew we couldn’t trust him as ‘ahr leader! She’d never do that, not my Rogue. Je le sais juste... mon Rogue ne ferait jamais ça à Gambit...” He vented before sitting back down at the bar, a defeated look in his eyes that seemed so dark for his charming persona.

"Remy... have you spoken to Rogue at all?" You question hesitantly, not wanting to upset him further.

“Remy tried… but Rogue ain’t listenin’ to him. She just keeps… shakin’ her damn head…” He muttered under his breath, his voice cracking slightly as he felt himself getting emotional at thinking she was really done with him like this, a slight look of disbelief and betrayal in his red eyes.

"Oh, Rem... I'm so sorry. I know how much you love her." You hold his free hand in both of yours, bringing it to y lips. something you have always done to try and comfort others.

“Cher… that just makes it all worse…” He muttered. His shoulders slumped even more as tears threatened to stream down his red eyes as you comforted him. He was never usually this vulnerable with others, normally keeping his ego and image up as a charming, almost cocky young adult mutant, but you we’re one of the only people he’d let himself be this vulnerable with when you gave him any sort of comfort, even if it made him feel more emotional than he liked to outwardly show.

"She shouldn't have done that. You know it not your fault, right?" You look into his eyes, keeping a comforting grip on his hand, "if she was unhappy or doubting the relationship, she should've gone to you like an adult."

“I know that… Gambit knows it’s not his fault and that if Rogue had a problem, she should’ve talked to him… just-…” He stopped himself after a moment, his voice faltering slightly again as he felt his own ego finally break properly, looking down to your hands holding his one so comfortingly as he choked out a few words. “Gambit just… doesn’t understand why… Why’d she do it with Magneto…? Why not him…?”

"Sometimes... people do stupid things and forget that their actions can hurt others," as you speak, you release his hand from your grip, carefully taking it into your one hand as your other speedily texted on your phone.

As you text, he takes a moment to bring a hand up to roughly wipe the few un-shed tears from his eyes, just taking a moment to calm himself as he looked over to you in his own slight confusion. “What you textin’ ‘bout, cher?”

"Oh? I'm asking Logan if he could clear out the movie room so you and I can go relax in private," you explain, turning your phone screen to face him and to show off the texts between Logan and yourself.
