X's to separaye sexiness.

August

Mary had waited patiently, but Liam's self-control unfortunately seemed like it wouldn't break any time soon. He'd kept his word. He hadn't had sex with her. There had been a few moments where they'd gotten close. He'd hesitated, and she'd known it had crossed his mind. But his morals had held out. Mary decided not to bring the sex talk up again. She wanted to treasure the rime they spent together in any capacity. Liam was hard-headed once he'd made his mind up, that was it. She knew he wouldn't sleep with her until he felt worthy of her. And she'd accepted the fact that that might be never.

Mary knew that despite Liam's apparent cockiness that he was quite insecure deep down and thought that perhaps maybe he wasn't good enough for her. If he pretended he was the greatest thing on this earth, maybe it'd be enough to fool himself and others into really believing it. But the sad thing was Mary wished Liam could see how wonderful he actually was, the real him beneath all that bravado.

Mary decided she wanted to make Liam feel special. He had taken her on many special dates, and he always put her first. Mary would miss his 20th birthday in a month's time being away at Uni. She had money saved up for moving away she could take him on a holiday. Somewhere he liked to go or had never been before. He'd talked about having family in Ireland that he hadn't seen in a while. His aunties and cousins. With his mum working so much, there wasn't much opportunity for holidays. And it wasn't as easy to get away as a whole family as it had be as kids. Paul was out of the house and working full time. Noel was off roadiening all over the world. So, Liam hadn't been back since he was a young teenager.

Mary went to the travel agents and looked at the best way to get there. Flights were faster but not cheap. And then there was always the long bus journey to the rural area his family lived in. They could get the ferry across. It'd take longer, but it'd save them money. Mary booked the ferry, which would leave from Liverpool, and then they could take a bus when they got there, which looked the best option. She'd booked a hotel for 3 nights. One double room. She'd felt quite grown up and a bit embarrassed when she'd been chatting with the travel agent. Her and her boyfriend were going on a holiday. Alone. Together.

She lay in Liam's arms on his bed, and she felt like now was the time to tell him since they left in exactly a week.

"You know how I won't be here for your birthday?"

Liam sighed.

"Don't talk like that the now, yeah?"

Mary smiled sadly. Liam had banned the topic of her discussing her imminent departure.

"Well, I thought we could do something together. Go away."

Liam frowned and looked at her gently.

"Go away where?"

Mary shrugged.

"Ireland. You said you hadn't been in a while. And I've never been. I booked the ferry and a hotel. I had extra money saved, so don't worry about it...I just wanted to celebrate your birthday with you."

Liam lay in surprised silence for a few moments.

"I can't let you pay for all this." He said quietly.

Mary grinned.

"Yes, you can. And you will. You were alright taking 20 quids off me. How's this any different?"

Liam smiled, and a light flush tinted his cheeks as he thought back to how this had all started. How they had started. At the time, he'd been driven by pure sexual attraction and hormones, and he'd had no idea that something as serious and beautiful as their current relationship would ever develop between them.
