Cameron woke up to an empty bed, an imprint of Gracie's body still left in the mattress. The curtains in Gracie's room were pulled shut but Cameron could see the harsh sunlight peeking out. She sat up slowly, grabbing her phone from the night stand and checking the time. It was 11:45, and Cameron cursed to herself for sleeping in this late. When she checked her phone she saw a bunch of unread texts from Madeline. She clicked on them and read them with squinted eyes, not adjusted to the light yet.

how did it go last night?

are you awake
wow still sleeping
that good of a night eh?
text me when you get up
CAMERON WAKE UP

sorry my bad
i accidentally slept in
Mads
jesus i thought you were dead
what happened last night
Cameron
nothing
Gracie was upset but we spoke and she's okay now
then we watched a movie and went to bed
Mads
that's boring
when are you coming home

Cameron ran a hand through her hair and got out of the bed, stretching her neck and arms out as she did. She walked over to the bathroom to see Gracie had put the toothbrush she used the other night out. Cameron smiled and grabbed it, brushing her teeth quickly and splashing some water on her face to wake herself up. She walked out of the bathroom and to Gracie's bedroom door, twisting and pulling it open.
She heard the sounds of whispers on the sofa, and when she stepped out she saw Audrey and Gracie sitting there, nursing cups of coffee and speaking about something quietly. Gracie's back was turned to her, but Audrey saw her and cleared her throat alerting Gracie. Gracie turned around and looked at Cameron nervously.
"Morning Cameron. We were just talking about you." Audrey said, a smile on her face.
Cameron raised her eyebrows as she walked over to them, "That's nice." She said, her voice coming out a lot scratchier and deeper than expected.
Audrey burst out laughing but Gracie just smiled and sat back into the sofa more, "Someones got a serious case of morning voice."
Cameron sat down next to Gracie, resting her head back, "Sorry. Jus' woke up."
"How'd you sleep?" Gracie asked.
"So good. You have a very comfortable bed." Cameron said, rubbing her eyes.
Audrey let out another small laugh then exchanged a look with Gracie. Almost immediately Audrey stood up and grabbed her coffee, "I'm gonna go lie down." She announced abruptly.
Gracie nodded and Cameron looked and her inquisitively, "Bye." Cameron said.
Audrey walked into her room and closed the door behind her, leaving Gracie and Cameron, sitting on the sofa.
