Danton

L : do you prefer vanilla or chocolate ice cream?"

Me : is this why you wanted me to check your texts

L : I'm just trying to get know you

Me: vanilla

L : why?

Me: because chocolate tastes a bit sour to me

L : ok. What's your love language

I look at her message and I can't help but smile.

Me: probably quality time

L: really?

Me: yeah , can't you believe it?

L: no , I do .

Another message comes in .

Meera: can I come at yours tommorow?

Me : sure , is it to study or just to chill?

Meera: chill .

Me: sure then .

I take a look at Laria's message but I can see she's offline.

"When are going to eat?"

I look up from my phone to find my dad giving me an eye. I quickly put away my phone.

"Is it Laria?"

I look at my mom who stopped eating. I felt relief when Laria said she was joking about telling my mom about us.

"No , it's Meera"

"Meera? What does she want?"

"Just asked if she could come over to chill tomorrow."

"On a  Friday? Is it a sleepover?"

"No. I don't know ."

My dad clears his throat and I look at him.

"Son, I don't like this Laria girl . She might be trying to get between you and Meera . Don't let her ."

"Oh come on Daniel, let the boy be."

"Are you seriously condoning his behaviour. Do you even know this girl."

"No , I don't need to if Danton does."

"Well , he knows her and he knows I'm not wrong . She's been involved in...various situations that I wouldn't want him to experience."

"I know dad , but we only talk about school."

.....

Laria

Rows of blue folding chairs faced the makeshift stage, where the principal, Mr De Luca, stood behind a microphone.

"To the Yosemite national park !” Mr De Luca’s voice rang out, his enthusiasm palpable. “This is a chance for you all to explore the great outdoors, learn about our local ecosystem, and bond with your classmates in a way that goes beyond the classroom....!”

Mr De Luca wrapped up his speech, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and exploration. “Remember,” he said, his eyes scanning the audience. “This trip will be what you make of it. Embrace every moment!”

A flurry of excited chatter erupted as the students began to discuss what they wanted to do during the trip. Pip leaned toward me andwas practically buzzing with excitement.

“What do you think we’ll do first? I can’t wait to go hiking!” she says giggling and I smile standing up .

"I can't wait to just get away from home."
