Chapter 5 Barry

"So all I'm saying is that if I can have my gun privileges back I will do anything you want Freddie"Dustin pleds but Dr.Ramon sighs "No Dustin I can't break any rules I really need this job"Dr.Ramon grunts,"Well I really need that gun"Dustin argues,Lola walks in with an new guy,a tan skin young boy with white hair wearing a blue sweater he has a big smile on his face and is holding a box,"Gentlemen.....and Dustin"Lola gets their attention,"This is Barry are newest field agent,bless his poor soul","Hi I brought everyone Muffins,don't worry it's a variety pack so there is something for everyone",The two just look at Barry finding him amusing,"Aw he's like a little puppy I give him a month"Dustin looks a Lola,"I hope to make you all Proud"Barry makes a promise.
"Well I have to go back to the Lab Lemon drank one of my potions thinking it was a bottle of Brandy.....again"Dr.Ramom walks off,Barry sets the box down and takes a seat,"I have so many questions I wasn't filed in a lot"Barry whipped out a note pad,"Woah there Buddy let me tell you something right now that thing on your face lose it"Dustin points to his smile,"My Smile?,what's wrong with enjoying life?"Nothing is wrong with that just when you work here that enjoyment you have goes straight down the demon filled drain"Lola answers,Barry looks at Lola and frowns,"Oh....well I think I can handle it",Both Lola and Dustin laugh at him.
"Your Too innocent for this world"Lola says this as if Barry was a baby puppy,Frank the Gray Martin walks up and Barry jumps up and raises his hand but Frank Yelps and amdealy Pepper sprays him,"Ahhh my eyes why!"Barry groans,"Frank!"Lola yelled at him,"Sorry I used to live in Detroit are you okay!"Frank rushed over,"My eyes are broken like my heart!"Barry yells out,"How dare you hurt my baby"Lola angrily looks at Frank,"Um I'm sorry I didn't mean to"Frank apologizes,"Is there a reason you came here Frank?"Dustin asked as Lola tented to Barry,"Oh yeah Captain Battleaxe wanted to see you",Dustin gets up nodding,"Okay uh Lola you make sure Barry is uh fine and Frank please put the Pepper spray away"Dustin walks over to the Captains office.
Dustin walks in and takes a seat,the Captain Across from him was a Sky blue rock Monster like the Thing from Fantastic 4,"Dustin nice to see you in here again it's been years"The Captain horse voice came out,"Am I in trouble?"Dustin asked,he probably did something but needs to know what exactly.
"No I actually need you to take are new Field agent out",Dustin sighs "why me?"Dustin looked back threw the glass Window to see Lola doing Barry's nails,"Because I trust you the most,and I'll just assign you a small case you will be in and out in no time".
Dustin pinches his nose,"Fine,just hand over the case document",The Captain hands him a brown folder and Dustin turns the pages skimming the info,"You know I haven't seen you pare up with a partner since-"The Captain cuts himself off and and air of quiet surrounded the room,"Forgive me"The Captain awkwardly coughs,"Your fine,I miss him too"Dustin gets up and leaves making his way to Barry.
"Thank you Lola my nails look so sparkly!"Barry shows off his nails,Dustin groans,"Barry come on we have a mission",Barry lights up excited,"Already!,I'll pack my gear!"Barry runs off,Lola Turned to Dustin,"You bring him back safe or else"She said in a overprotective tone."Got it"Dustin nods before heading out.

The two sit in Dustin's car as he pulls up to a gas station,"I can't believe I'm on my first mission I'm so excited!"Barry shaked happily,"Do you know how to even shoot a gun?"Dustin asked him,Barry stops to think,"Of course I do,I actually brought mine with me!"Barry pulls out his standard issue gun,"Woah there let's point the gun away from me and my car window thank you very much",Barry lowers the gun slowly pointing away from any harm,"Is that an engraving on your gun?"Dustin points to the letters on the side on the gun,"Oh Yeah,Chekov you know who that is right?"Barry asked as he tried to explain the name,"I think I do,your an interesting little guy Barry"Dustin shuts the car off and gets out,"So what are we looking for?"Barry asked as he got out,"A Giant Honey badger apparently it's been eating people or whatever","Giant,like Giant Giant?", Barry asked,"Yeah but this is easy we just need to find it and lure it out,teleport it out of here and find a safe place to drop it"Dustin explains,"I see so no Bang bang?"Barry does a finger gun,"Barry you want to work here correct?"Dustin looks at him,"Uh yes why?"Barry was nervous now,"Well one thing you learn about this job is these monsters we try to lock down or hunt,they are people too,I know it sounds crazy but they have feelings and wants and there scared too,just I rather talk to them before I shoot them and call it a day".
"I'm sorry,just they told us different things in training I guess,but I never did believe it not truly,so I'm happy to know that someone else sees them as more than just monsters"Barry and Dustin both smiled at each other finally bonding,"You know what Barry I think your actually a very good kid,we need more open minded people"Dustin smiles at him,"Thank you Sir"Barry responds,"You don't have to call me sir just call me Dustin",Barry nods agreeing,"You think the store clerk saw anything?"Barry asked looking at the Gas station,"Probably,but let's go check"Dustin and Barry then head inside.
As they head inside they see the store Clerk,looks like your typical crazy redneck trucker,"You boys looking for that Badger"The Clerk puts down his magazine,"Uh Yeah have you seen it around,doing Honey badger things whatever that is?"Barry asked still clearly new at this,"No but I have a theory,you see people have been going missing by the old mine shaft down the road,I think that dam Badger is using it as a cozy home to snack on those poor folks!","I see then can we have some honey please to draw it out","Wait Honey Badgers actually like honey!?",Barry asked surprised,"Well I do have a bucket full but I warn you anyone that enters in that mineshaft never comes out","They said the same thing about college can you just hand over the bucket"Dustin couldn't care less,The Clerk hands them the bucket and two start heading out,"NEVER GETS OUT!"The Clerk yells out,"Don't listen to them we will get out,this will be easy peasy"Dustin reassures Barry as they head to the car.

"Ah Come on!"Dustin slaps his lamp as it lights up,the two look ahead to see pitch darkness down the mineshaft,"Spooky"Barry comments as he looks around seeing all the cobwebs and rusted pickaxes,a screeching noise echoed three the tunnel,something unholy and something that no animal could make,"I don't think honey Badgers make that noise"Barry reached for his gun aiming at the darkness ahead,Dustin took one more stepped but bumped into something,"Uh Barry.....found the Honey Badger....and something else found it too"Dustin backs up,more screeching is heard before a winged man size bat like creature emerges,"What the hell"Dustin stumbles back,"Freeze!"Barry yells out but the Creature flies at them and Barry fires his gun,the bullet hits the creatures wing nocking it out of the air crashing into the wall,it screamed in pain and Dustin dropped his bucket and grabbed Barry,"RUN!"Dustin yelled out as they both booked it,as they ran the creature crawled on all floors chasing them,"I tried being friendly!"Barry screams out,"Were almost there keep running!"Dustin orders,Barry however trips over a helmet,"Ah shit no no no!"Barry aims his gun at the beast as it gets closer but Dustin picks up a Picaxe and hits the monster in the face,Barry then shoots at it and hits it eye,the Monster groans in pain and stumbles back into the cave,Dustin helps Barry up and checks for any damages,"You okay?",Barry nods,"Yeah yeah....what was that?","I don't know never seen anything like that before,but lets just get you back to the car",Barry Nods as Dustin starts walking.
Barry starts walking too but looks back,"I wonder what we were actually hunting"Barry ask himself now suspicious.
