harry tried helping talia up, and he did. but she only gave him a hug and apparated away where she knew the one person she wanted to see would be waiting for her after all this time.

tal remembered the first time she met draco at the astronomy tower. she had loved him but didn't know it yet. now, looking at his blonde hair and back as he looked out to the land before him, she was happy to say that that's what it was and always had been; love.

"draco..." she said small. he turned around with a jump. when he saw her, he looked relieved and put his arms out.

she ran into them and closed her eyes. breathing in his cologne that was somehow still on. feeling his chest go up and down and his hands smoothing out her hair.

"i did it, draco." she whispered. he pulled away and took her face in his hands.

"you're the bravest girl i know. i'm so proud of you." draco kissed her forehead.

tal pulled out the elder wand from her pocket. the boy looked down at it in awe.

"how did you.."

"i killed dumbledore. so now i'm stuck with the most powerful wand in the world. the wand that makes wizards invincible." she held it in her hands.

"you're invincible with or without the wand." he assured.

she smirked at him, then looked off at the distance of the tower.

"what do you think? should i throw it over the edge? destroy it so something like this never happens again?" she asked. draco raised his eyebrows.

"that's very noble. and a very potter thing to do."

tal looked at him and laughed.

"good thing i'm a slytherin, then." she shoved the wand back into her pocket.

"you're gonna keep it?" he asked. tal shrugged.

"for now. then when i'm, like, a hundred years old and on my deathbed i'll break it in half or toss it in the ocean."

"we'll do it together." draco threw an arm around the girls shoulders. they made their way over to the edge of the tower to get a better view. it was nice seeing a sky that wasn't dark and gray and reflecting spells.

as tal looked around, she saw harry, ron and hermione at the entrance bridge to hogwarts. they were talking.

draco followed her line of sight.

"i supposed you're gonna go join them." he sounded slightly dissapointed.

tal glanced up at him, seeing his eyes as he stood with his arms around her. she realized how secure she felt.

"no. no, they should have their moment. i have everything i need here." she reassured.

draco looked down. then, he glanced at her lips and kissed her. and for the first time in a long time, they felt the safest they've ever been.
