Isabelle was standing in the kitchen preparing coffee and snacks for her grandmother and Alexander, who were sitting in the living room, chatting and laughing about something. She picked up the plate and walked towards them, placing the coffee and snacks in front of them. She sat beside Anna

"And then he said it's a new fashion, and in trend when he actually wore different pairs of shoes" Alexander said. Anna laughed at his words "Well, I must say, your friend is quite intelligent" Anna commented. She handed the coffee cup to Alexander as he continued sharing his funny experience with his friends.

Isabelle looked down, her mind still preoccupied with her uncle's betrayal, and now her grandmother didn't even ask how she was or where she had been, which broke her heart even more.

"Honey, what's wrong?" Anna asked, noticing Isabelle's quietness. Isabelle looked at her, wanting to express a lot but felt hard to utter anything.

"It must be due to the incident" Alexander interjected. Isabelle looked at him with a puzzled expression. Anna smiled warmly and pulled her into a hug "Sweetie, it's okay. Your friend is fine, she will join you soon" Anna comforted Isabelle by patting her back gently. Isabelle glanced at Alexander, who gave her a look that signaled  'Don't say anything'

Isabelle sensed that Alexander had deceived her grandmother about her absence, yet she remained silent, embracing the feeling of security in Anna's hug. Anna pulled back and kissed Isabelle's forehead.

"Nana, w-who are those people in our restaurant?" Isabelle inquired, as her grandmother had brought her and Alexander straight to their home.

"Oh, Alexander didn't tell you. Sweetie, he's the one who appointed them in our restaurant. While you were away taking care of your friend, he stayed and helped me tremendously. For the past three days, he has managed everything" Anna revealed.

Isabelle's eyes widened in disbelief as she gazed at Alexander, who modestly downplayed his actions with a smile "Such a kind boy, you are. It's so hard to find people like him in today's world" Anna, full of praise, highlighted Alexander's kindness and assistance.

Isabelle couldn't understand the authenticity of Alexander's smile, he had fed lies to Anna to conceal her absence. Their eyes met, and Alexander winked at her with a sly smirk, Isabelle felt a chilling shiver ran down her spine.

"I Apologize, kids, but I gotta head back" Anna stated as she rose. Isabelle's eyes widened in dread, the thought of being left alone with him in her own home sent chills down her spine. She quickly clasped Anna's hand.

"I'll go with you" Isabelle blurted out, but Anna shook her head "You look exhausted sweetie, Rest up I'll return in the evening" Anna insisted.

"It's alright, I'll look after her, Mrs. Grace" Alexander interrupted, gripping Isabelle's hand. Anna smiled at his offer, oblivious to the terror lurking in her granddaughter's gaze. With a nod, she exited the house.

Alexander casually picked up a cookie and took a bite "Not bad" he remarked before devouring the treat. Isabelle stared at him, her voice quivering "W-what did you say to my nana?"

"What did I say? Oh yeah. You took care of your injured friend, what's her name, uh, jun, Jia, no Jane?" Alexander inquired, struggling to recall the name. Isabelle's eyes widened in alarm at his words. Jane? What had he done to her?

"W-what did you do?" She whispered, her voice filled with fear. Alexander handed her the phone and settled back on the couch, munching on the cookies as he observed her.

Isabelle dialed Jane's number, her fingers shaking uncontrollably, dark thoughts clouding her mind. After the third ring, Jane answered "Hey, girl. What's going on?" Jane's voice came through the phone "J-jane, A-are y-y-ou okay?" Isabelle stammered, her throat constricting with pain, consumed by the fear of losing another person in her life.
