Maverick sat at the head of the table, his commanding presence dominating. His piercing gaze fixed on Kim like others, who was presenting the report "..and that's why we need to restructure our marketing approach. The current strategy isn't yielding desired results—"

Suddenly, the door swung open, and Alexander strode in, shattering the calm atmosphere. The room's attention shifted to him. Kim bowed hastily before turning on the lights, sensing the tension.

"Xander, what is it?" Maverick asked firmly, his stern expression a clear indication that he was in the midst of an important meeting.

"Dad, I need to speak with you. Now" Alexander replied, his resolute eyes locked onto his father's.

Maverick's gaze lingered on Alexander before dismissing the other executives "Let's take a break, gentlemen. We'll continue in thirty minutes"

Nobody needed to be told twice. The room emptied swiftly, greeting their co-CEO. Kim attempted to follow but Alexander swiftly closed the door, trapping him inside.

Kim felt as if his soul left his body. His mind spiraled into panic. Did he do something wrong? Was his life in danger? Alexander seems angry, but he couldn't recall anything doing against them.

Kim's heart raced, his thoughts racing like a marathon runner that he hadn't heard his name being called until now.

"MR. KIM" Alexander thundered, his voice echoing through the room like a whip, making Kim flinch violently. Fear etched on his face.

"Stop day dreaming" he said, slamming a tablet before him and sat besides his father.

Kim's trembling hands grasped the tablet. Confusion replaced fear as he scanned the scandalous articles.

Kim hastily returned to his laptop, typing furiously, sweat dripping from his brow. Alexander leaned back, struggling to contain his rage, veins bulging.

"Why the silence, Kim? Weren't you aware of this?" Alexander spat, venom in his tone.

Maverick's perplexed gaze shifted between Kim and Alexander, concern etched on his face "Is everything alright, son?"

Kim bowed deeply, trembling "I-I apologize, sir. I was unaware. Please give me time to look at the matter" he begged.

Maverick's anger escalated, his voice rising "Speak up! What's happening?"

Kim's voice trembled "Some online articles claim that Alexander sir and Ms. Hart will be engaged soon. They both are in a secret relationship" he stammered.

Maverick's eyes widened in shock, jaw clenched, as he grabbed the tablet, reading the rumors spread by popular magazines about his son.

Alexander's blazing gaze targeted Kim "Didn't I order you to keep an eye on Hart? How did this slip past you?" he growled.

"Sir, I followed all your instructions. If the Hart family was involved then I would've known" Kim said, desperation creeping into his voice.

Maverick seethed, fury burning "Then who's responsible?"

Kim looked at them "I'll investigate, sir. Give me some time" He spoke with confidence but fear of consequences still palpable in him.

"Contain this news. Issue a statement from our side and deny all the rumors" Maverick commanded.

Kim nodded and fled. He felt relief washing over him but disappointment was still there, he failed to complete the task.

"Rachel is behind this. That bitch has been been spreading lies in the college that I am her boyfriend and we will be engaged soon" Alexander snarled.
