Chapter Eleven: The UA recommendation exam.

PERHAPS IT WAS THE FACT THAT you had been all over the news for the last week. Or perhaps it was the fact that your face was now on a billboard in the centre of Musutafu — but nevertheless, you found that heads turned wherever you were, and walking through the gates of the prestigious UA high school was no different.

"Is she a model?" A boy whispered to his friend. It was a comment you'd heard over a hundred times before, yet still gave you that same shot of adrenaline as it did the first time, because everything was still settling in. You were a model. And you were glad people had been catching on.

Flipping your hair with confidence, you waltzed into the building, making your way over to the lecture hall where instructions of what your exams would entail were to be handed out. It was relatively simple. An interview, a written test and a practical. Well, the first two stages had been 'simple' anyways. The third however had a new aspect to it.

The recommendation exams for UA weren't as relaxed as any old high school. Rightly so — the academy had such a status for a reason, and so you were surprised to find yourself nervous once it had computed in your head that this whole exam was one big competition between ambitious teenagers, and it seemed that you weren't the only one prepared to fight dirty.

Powerful people had a different aura about them. It was barely noticeable to many apart from a select few — those few being people who had experienced power themselves. In your case, Mirko had been the first show of power you had ever seen. You had known ever since you'd stepped foot in her office that she was the number 5 hero for a reason. And it was the same now: the same unsettling or rather — exciting feeling you got being stood beside your competitors. To your left; a tall boy, with a cocky grin comparable to your own, and to the right; a leaner boy, with perfectly parted mismatched hair to match his perfectly handsome face. Two people, both unalike each other to the extreme that they could be labeled as 'opposites', brought together by one common goal. To not only pass these exams: but to come first.

To stand at the top was to not only be admired — but feared. So you supposed. And so you too were going to give this exam your all, because being number one would bring you one step closer to your sisters. And that was the reason you were here: doing this. For them. Right?

"ALLRRRIIIGHHHTTT!" Present Mic's voice focused you on the present along with the rest of your competitors. "THATS THE END OF THE WRITTEN EXAMS, TIME FOR THE PRACTICAL!!"

You had all been put into groups of four. For what reason you did not know, but would soon find out — but it seemed that the groups were not all random. The two boys stood either side of you were different to the other students taking the exam. As you had said earlier, powerful people had a different aura, and these two were different. You concluded that your group consisted of the examinees with the most potential. The ones who had stood out because of the prominence of their recommenders, and so it was likely that they similarly to you had been recommended by heroes in the top ten.

Present Mic's booming voice called out to you again. "USE YOUR QUIRKS FREELY TO REACH THE FINISH LINE!"

So it was a race. You hummed to yourself, activating your quirk. The familiarity of the warmish—cast which was left over your skin filled you with comfort, allowing you to concentrate, so much so that you hadn't notice your right arm beginning to glow as your skin came in contact with the frosty air being emitted from that side.

"ARE YOU READY?"

Full of anticipation you waited for the lights to turn.

Red. Orange. And then green.

"GO, GO, GO!!"
