Chapter Fourteen: Saishou!"HELLO..?" IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. Sunken in depths of pillows you scrambled for your phone, quickly answering and bringing the device to your ear. On the other end of the line: a familiar voice, but not the one you were expecting to hear.
"You better not make some lame ass excuse to hang up." Were his first words. Pondering over the strange calmness of the boy's voice, you remained silent. Your curiosity was what prompted you not to hang up, albeit his rudeness, considering he'd woken you up at this ungodly hour.
"Katsuki, I'm looking at my alarm clock and it says 00:28."
"Why the fuck are you telling me that? I don't give a shit." You squeezed your eyes tightly, a little irritated that he hadn't understood what you were inferring.
"Do you know what most people are doing at 00:28? They are sleeping. I was sleeping."
"Well you're not sleeping right now are you?"
"Thanks to someone.." You mumbled.
"I'm coming over." He stated a little too certainly. You immediately sat up at the declaration.
"Did you not hear what I just said? About it being 00:28 and about me being asleep?"
"Well I'm almost there now. So you better fucking not pass out."
Ohmygod. You rubbed your temples. You didn't remember Bakugo being this spontaneous. Since when did he show up at people's houses at whatever past midnight? You were certain he was the type to avoid human interaction at all costs — or at least he tended to avoid your company with exceptions for your training. Speaking of which, you'd have to ask him how his exam went.
"Fine." You conceded. "Do you like hot chocolate?"
"No. How can you drink that crap? No wonder you're always breaking out."
"Excuse me?" You barked. "My skins clearer than yours!"
"Yeah." He snorted. "No."
"Well thanks a lot asshole." You mumbled. "Wakes me up, and then flames me."
"Get over it. You're not special."
"I'm dreading to think about how many people you do this to then."
"It's not going to be a recurring thing. Trust me."
You rolled your eyes, climbing out of bed and feeling around for your slippers. The light in the kitchen was still on as you'd left it, with a plate and glass still in the sink from dinner. Placing your phone on the counter, you switched on the stove, placing a water-filled kettle on-top.
"So am I going to be told what this is about?" You leaned on the counter over your phone, studying your living room which had been immersed in darkness save for the rays of moonlight from the windows.
"If it didn't require a face-to-face meeting, you'd be getting a message, wouldn't you?"
"Just a no would have been fine." You scowl.
"Don't care. And I drink my coffee black, thanks."
"I'm not making you a-!" Before you could complain, Bakugo had hung up, leaving only you, your growing anger, and the whistling kettle in the background. Why out of everyone did you have to pick such an ass of a training partner? Did he seriously have no respect for you even after all of those beatings? You groaned, throwing your head back in frustration. Perhaps he'd get another one when he got here.
