[8AM- ROLL CALL]
"Everyone have a seat. Today is a special day for our rookies. Cause today we switch things up. That's Right. Everyone gets a new training officer. Nolan and Riley, you'll be riding with Officer Lopez. West you'll be riding with Bradford and Chen, you'll be with Bishop. But learning how to navigate a new T.O. is not your only challenge. By the end of next shift, I expect every rookie to uncover something personal about their training officer, something they don't want you to know. This will be a test of your investigative instincts and your fortitude. Best insight will win a day off. Worst one handles Saturday night cavity searches. That's it. Good luck."
Juniper stands up and looks over at Angela, she's familiar with her. She was somewhat disappointed that she was paired with another rookie again but it was okay, since Nolan was decent in Juniper's book. She'll survive its fine..
She heads outside, grabbing gear and not listening to the rookies conversation or the TO's conversation. She puts the gear in the back of the shop, and instantly getting into the back of the shop not bothered as much.
Officer Lopez is the next one in the car and she turns to say something to Juniper but Nolan comes around to the driver side and talks to Angela. Juniper could feel herself zoning out again as she just stared at a wall through the window silently, getting engrossed in her thoughts and thinking about her girlfriend a bit.
"Oh. Uh, usually Officer Bishop has me drive. She feels it's a better way to evaluate how I-" Nolan starts.
"This is my shop. I drive." Angela responds, shortly.
"Copy that, so..." Nolan trails off.
"I was raised by a single mom. Everything I owned was a hand-me-down from my four brothers, so I care about what I wear and how I look. Now you don't have to spend the next two days hunting for insight." Angela says.
When Angela said this Juniper came back to reality and raised an eyebrow at this but didn't question it as it saved her and Nolan the trouble of trying to get information from her.
"I don't think that's how Sergeant Grey wanted me to gain insights." Nolan frowns which caused Juniper to force herself not to roll her eyes.
"Are you a teacher's pet, Boot? 'Cause I thought I was gonna get a chance of pace with you." Angela asks, already looking annoyed.
"Uh, no, ma'am. Just looking to get the most out of the experience." Nolan responds.
"Good. Because if I win you Grey's day off, you're gonna fix my garage door. I heard you were a contractor." Angela replies.
And it's in that moment that Juniper finds herself smirking and officially looks up to Angela Lopez and sees her as a badass.
"Yeah, no, happy to help. Probably gonna need a little more than, 'She likes nice clothes' to win this thing." Nolan says as he gets into the passenger seat. "So where are we off to?"
"Court. I have to testify in a trial. Should take a few hours." Angela responds, glancing at Nolan.
"Quiet time starts now."
Juniper was completely fine with the silence as she sat in the backseat with newfound admiration for Angela as she backs out of the garage and starts to drive to the courthouse.
"Never been to the courthouse before. This is exciting." Nolan says as they enter the courthouse.
"What court case are you testifying in, ma'am..?" Juniper asked out of curiosity
"That feeling will pass. Caught this break and enter 10 months ago. Since then, it's been two preliminary hearings, two motions to suppress. It's endless." Angela replies and Juniper nods and taking down some simple notes.
"Hey, Lopez. Looking good." A man says, walking by.
"Thanks. How's your wife?" Lopez replies in passing before turning back to her two rookies.
"This is the only place in L.A where you can find all the law enforcement agencies together. LAPD, Highway Patrol, Sheriff's Department, everyone acting like the top of the food chain. See that guy with the comb-over? They call him Hot Stuff. Know why?" Lopez gestures to a guy
