As soon as the sun was up I was up, my father had the great idea to bake cookie for my class as well for Ms.Hart, and we stayed up a little late doing that. I was so excited for my first day of school, well that and extremely nervous, like so nervous I might barf a little. Getting out of bed I washed up and got dressed. The blue in the dress really went well with my hair, so I sat down at the vanity and took out the braids and styled my hair. Then I packed my bag with the books, and my sketch book. Cookie then woke up and jumped around me as I sat down and tried to put on my shoes. I stared in the mirror and I tried to shake all the nerves I was feeling. Then I heard my father, "Come on Jellybean!"
Grabbing my hat and basket I made my way down stairs with Cookie trailing behind me. "Jellybean you look great!" I smiled and did a spin. It was just him and Grandpa in the dining room. "How are you feeling about going Pumpkin?"
"Oh nervous for my first day, but I'm sure everything will be fine. I don't have much experience with school, but why wouldn't it be fine? Father homeschooled me and I've read more books than I can count." I started to help set the table. "Then it should be better than fine. I have no doubt that it will be." My grandfather said as I leaned on the wall for a second. " But I'm a few years behind, I feel that is a reason to not to be optimistic."
My pulled me into a side hug. "The only place you can go academically speaking, is up. If a person puts their best foot forward, things can go well." I smiled and continued and when I get nervous I babble a lot. Father went to the kitchen and Grandpa grabbed the cookie I made, but they were still listening.
"It will be nice to have a lot of new friends, although I expect it will be difficult to find a way in, especially how the world in and they all, known each other forever. I've Diana, but I've always wanted-" I was reaching for a teacup, when some one yelled, "Where the hell are you going!" That scared me and that made me drop the cup, shattering it when it hit the ground. Turning around I went to apologize when I was hit across the face.
"Look what you've done, I looked up to Lauren and tears ran down my face. My father and ran into the room shocked. And Grandpa right after and he helped me up. "Mother that was uncalled for." They argued back and fourth and I slid down to the ground. I felt licks on my leg. I opened my eyes to see Cookie. I hugged him to my chest and I crawled past them, they weren't paying attention.
Walking into the kitchen I grabbed my cookies for the class and Ms.Hart, putting them in a basket and grabbed milk and apple, since I don't have time to make a lunch. Bending down to Cookie I said, "Grab my bag Cookie." He ran to the dining room, as I put on my sweater. He came back with it in his mouth. "Good boy." I kissed his head and headed out the door.
Pacing the floor I could believe my mother. "Why would you hit her mother come on." She scoffed as she sat down. "She broke my favorite cup, you brought her here, church, and now the school. You are shaming this family!" My father sat in front of her with his head in his hands.
"She is our GRANDDAUGHTER, Lauren you don't have to love her, but she is here to say." She scoffed I grabbed the lunch on the table, "Jellybean, where are you, are you ok?" I went into the kitchen, and saw her stuff gone. Walking back into the dining room my father had his head in his hands, "She already left, she forgot her lunch." He stood up and shook his head. "Lunch is at 12, you can drop it off then." I nodded my head and went outside and sat on the porch and shook my head just thinking about what my mother did.
