Chpt 9: Security Breach

We all got back to the monitor room, Yaoyorozu gave me a bottle of water and I was standing around with Denki, Kirishima and Ashido, talking about everything that just went down.

"You were so cool with your chains Y/n, very manly!"

"Yeah! The way you didn't even look at Uraraka and still caught her was so badass, and then the jumping out the window, you played the part really well!"

"I agree with Ashido, you really seemed like you would've done some badddd shit."

I looked from Kirishima to Ashido to Denki as they each commented on my performance, and the truth was, I felt like I was back on a mission for the first time all over again.

"Thanks, it was pretty weird but fun." I said while unscrewing the bottle cap again to take another drink.

"Well despite these results, the MVP of this exercise is Young Y/N!"

I choked on my water, coughing as Denki patted me on the back, but I wasn't the only one shocked because the whole class looked very confused.

"Shouldn't it be one of the heroes instead, since they're the winners?" Asui asked.

"Mm! Valid question, why didn't I choose one of those two? Who has a guess?"

Still recovering from the water, I regained my posture to listen to what Yaoyorozu had to say.

"Sir! I can tell you why! Y/n embraced this challenge. She was the only one who truly adapted to his assigned role. I'll explain: Bakugo's judgment was clouded by a personal grudge against Midoriya, as you pointed out earlier, launching a large‐scale attack indoors was a foolish move. It could have been disastrous similarly, Midoriya's plan was also poorly thought out, considering the amount of damage that he received. He rendered himself helpless, not smart."

"As for Uraraka...she let her guard down mid‐battle, and her final attack was far too reckless given the hypothetical stakes. If she'd treated the fake weapon as though it were real, she never would've risked using such an imprecise move."

This was all great and stuff, but that it still wasn't explaining why I had gotten MVP.

"Y/n was fully prepared for her opponent's arrival, she had a strategy, and never lost sight of his mission, even if she was foiled in the end. Technically, the hero team won yes, but they took advantage of the fact that this was training. They didn't respect the spirit of the trial."

All Might nodded.

So I got awarded because of ...basic common sense? Because I was the only one that actually did what we were supposed to do?

"Now then, on to the next battle!"

The next battles went pretty quickly compared to our one, I was just leaning against the wall quietly, watching all the matches.

"Good job on getting MVP."

I turned my head to see a boy leaning against the wall beside me, red and white hair hair that was somehow split perfectly down the middle, blue and grey eyes and a red patch on the upper left of his face, around the eye area- looked like a scar.

"Oh thanks...uh-"

"Shoto Todoroki."

"Thanks Todoroki, I'm Y/n."
